  • Statistical Process Control : Designing effective sampling strategies and using control charts and inferential statistics to detect special cause variations in a process and bringing it under control.
  • Process Improvement : Using the Six Sigma approach to increase process performance and capabilities, establishing a functional dependence of output characteristics on process parameters through multiple regression models, Hypothesis testing and building confidence intervals, DoE for cause and effect relationships, ANOVA to quantify the role of various factors in a process.
  • Measurement System Analysis :  Using ANOVA to study the contribution of variations in measurement system arising due to various factors and reduce special cause variations.
  • Risk Assesment: Using FMEA to identify and mitigate risks associated with a process.

Project: Separation of valuable organic compounds from aqueous and non-aqueous solutions.

Mentor: Dr.S.Sridhar, Senior Principle Scientist, Membrane Separation Laboratory.

  • Worked on the extraction of stevioside from Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni (leaves) through a series of processes which compromise of series of ultra-filtration, micro-filtration and Nano -filtration steps.
  • Using Aspen Plus as a simulation tool, we worked on setting up a distillation column with a main objective of selectively separating Anisole from a mixture of cresols and Phenols.

Thesis :  Molecular dynamics simulations of supramolecular cavitand assemblies

The conformational dynamics of n-alkanes confined to a nano-dimensional space are explored using computational MD simulations. The system to some extent represents the encapsulation of a mis-folded protein by molecular chaperones and bringing it to a native state. Encapsulation into small spaces brings out conformational changes in molecules which are uncommon in bulk solutions.
