• Surveyed over 200 households to get acquainted with the ground reality of the effectiveness of Public Distribution System (PDS)
• Reported about the accessibility(only 1/3rd actually benefited) and utility (extremely low) of the PDS based on survey
• Chief expenditure of poor households apart from daily activities was on education(Avg no of kids was 4 per family)
• Main reason of exploitation of the poor was their illiteracy which means circumstances could improve if public provision of education was effective
