Events Assistant and Web Content Manager 

Office of Interdisciplinary Academic Programs, University of Victoria

I am a work-study student with the office of Interdisciplinary Academic Programs at UVic. In this role, I am responsible for 6-8 websites at a time for the various interdisciplinary programs run through the office. I keep the content up to date, correct errors, change formatting, and write content. The sites are run on the Cascade server and I have obtained substantial knowledge of website management in this position. My role also asks that I assist the Director of the Social Justice Studies program. In that capacity, I mostly assist the director in the organization and execution of events. I also assist both the SJS director and my supervisor at the OIAP office with administrative tasks.

Project Management and Lobbying Intern

Centre for European Progression (CFEP)

During my internship with CFEP, I held a variety of responsibilities including: writing original content for their political blog and newsletter, proofreading the writing of others, and the organization of a panel debate on EU-Turkey relations which I also moderated. The organization of the debate including finding speakers, event promotion, set up, working document preparation, and writing a summary report after the event. I also created content and monitored the various social media profiles held by CFEP.

As a Guest Services Agent and Concierge at the Chateau Victoria, I was responsible for ensuring all guests receive outstanding customer service throughout their entire stay. This includes duties such as efficient check-in and check-out procedures, resolving any internal guest issues, and organizing anything from dinner reservations to scheduling sight-seeing outings. Administrative duties were also included in this role such as: closing and balancing the shift float, faxing and filing of documents, writing incident reports.

At the University of Victoria Bookstore, I processed transactions efficiently while ensuring excellent customer service. The bookstore has lines of 100+ people around the beginning of each semester, so I am well-versed in crowd management and working under pressure. Was often scheduled during rush hours due to speed and crowd management skills. Other duties included: general cleaning of the store, stocking shelves, and bagging orders.

Personal Tutor

I was a personal tutor to middle school aged children, many with learning disabilities. I worked on everything from reading and writing to math with them, but specialized in French Immersion subjects and foreign languages (primarily Spanish). I also put a focus on early development of positive work habits and study techniques.

European Study Tour & Internship Program

Capilano University, Vancouver / University Saint-Louis, Brussels

I completed a 3-week intensive study tour on the European Union based in Brussels, followed by a 10 week internship with an EU-focused NGO. I was selected to participate in this program alongside a team of 45 students from across Canada. I was among six others on the UVic cohort, and spent my internship period with the Centre for European Progression.
