Responsible to the Top Management for: 

  • Creating & Managing an Integrated Organizational Risk assessment  encompassing hazards associated with Assets, Customer,  Environment, Safety, Health and Hygiene. 
  • Establishing long term Environmental vision & goals.
  • Improve the supply chain management process.
  • Routine Ship Management activities in addition to the above.

Responsible to the Director (Shipping) for business development. Monitoring implementation of new projects. Selecting & monitoring supplier’s performance. Implementing holistic 'quality' in 26 branch offices in the country.

Joint Ventures and new projects:

1. SCI Forbes Ltd, Mumbai: JV for Purchase of 4 Chemical Tankers worth USD 100 million

  • Obtained Board approvals for the project
  • Worked closely with external consultants/experts
  • Assessing project cost over a 15 year life cycle
  • Reviewed financials and project IRR
  • Indentified sources for debt participation 

2. New Project: Construction of two Container freight stations located in New Mumbai (India) and Gujarat (Mundra Port). Project cost approximately USD 12 Million

  • Developed budgets and tracked actual costs / variances
  • Worked with Finance team to develop project cost and cash flow
  • Managed supplier requirements and monitored their performance
  • Recruited operations team 

3. Forbes Bumi Armada Ltd: JV for the owning and operating Off-shore supply vessels for ONGC Ltd India. Responsible to the Director/CEO Shipping division for preparing the feasibility study of an ONGC tender for the Time Charter of 9 vessels along with JV partner Bumi Armada, Malaysia for the JV Company Forbes Bumi Armada Ltd.

Established own Management Consultancy firm with slogan ‘Quality Pays & Safety Earns’ in 1995, when Quality Management Systems was a very new subject. As a Consultant had a direct & continuous interaction with the Client’s Top Management to drive all-round continual improvement. Started by understanding Company’s philosophy, processes and 'their' Customer’s expectations. Analysed weak areas. Suggested solutions to add value and monitored implementation. Trained personnel on Holistic Quality Management, Improving bottom line through Environment & Resource conservation techniques, Better Management of HR through Emotional intelligence concepts. Implemented various ‘low-cost high benefit’ schemes and process improvement initiatives using lean sigma, 5S, Kaizen concepts. Improving client’s output and the ‘bottom line’. 

As Entrepreneur & Proprietor of the Company, prepared annual budgets and targets for the company and four full time Consultants. Maintained detailed accounts and prepared Cash Flow and Financial Statements.

Ship Management experience (2006-2011): Senior Management position 6 years in two leading Ship Management Companies. Present designation Environmental & Training Manager in Singapore.

Shipping agency (2004-2006): As Deputy General Manager in a leading Shipping agency Company in India for two years, responsible for New Projects and Business development.

Sailing Experience (1976-1995): Started as a Cadet in 1976 with Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. Sailed worldwide 17 years of which 5 years as a Captain. Tankers, Break Bulk, Container ships, Refrigerated Cargo vessels, Off-shore supply vessels.

Port and Pilotage (1986-1990): Pilot / Port Officer for Indian Ports of Okha, Kandla and Mumbai for 4 years.

Dry-dock and Shipyard:As Chief Officer attached for one year in Hindustan Shipyard, Vizag, with Naval Architect during the construction of three sister vessels. Have extensive experience of dry-docking ships in Europe, Middle East and Asia.


Finance & New Projects (2004-2006): Have driven new projects (Infrastructure and Shipping) from cradle to implementation level with values of USD 100 million. Projecting Cash flow statements for life cycle and calculating ROI for project and capital.


Quality, Environment, Safety, Health and Hygiene: Implemented various Management systems (ISO 9001, 14001 & OHSAS 18001) in over 105 different manufacturing and service industries from 1995-2004.

FMEA, KAIZEN, 5S and Lean SIGMA: Implemented Management tools in various different industries.

Business process reengineering: As freelance Management Consultant have the experience of restructuring processes in over 105 industries, leading to all round improvement.
