A highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic individual who graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Computing and Information Systems at Goldsmiths University of London in 2012.

Successfully completed Capita's Novus programme in software testing and placements for various client organisations around the UK in sectors including Government, Insurance and Finance/Investment Banking. Moved on to become a member of Capita ITPS Assurance and Testing division as a Test Consultant/Test Analyst.

During my 4 years experience at Capita, I obtained commercial software project experiences, successfully fulfilled the role and demonstrated abilities as a Tester/Test Analyst in requirements analysis, test scripting, manual and automation test execution, raising of defects, using test management tools, working in either a waterfall or Agile model/methodology, liaising with external software vendors for the management of defect logs/ lifecycles, reporting of test statistics and working together with project stakeholders, project managers, business analyst and developers to deliver a project successfully.

I have since moved on and currently work for Kobalt Music as a Test Engineer.

Test Consultant/Data Load Test Analyst

Data Communications Company (Capita DCC)

Joined the Capita DCC Smart Metering Implementation Programme on the BIMI (Business Intelligence Management Information) project working on the backend/database side as a Data Load Test Analyst. The programme was initiated as part of the Government’s target to have Smart Meter devices in all UK households by 2020. The objective of BIMI is to deliver a set of Cognos reports showing a variety of data for example - Service Failures and Performance Measures. These data are loaded into the SQL database server in the form of CSV files and the Cognos reports will display these data in the front end. Data load activity involves loading valid data files and to ensure incorrect/negative files are validated in the database.

 Role as a Data Load Test Analyst for each sprint Iterations involves:

  • Attend daily team stand up meetings to discuss impediments, requirements specifications and deliverables.
  • Write test plans and send it off for sign off from project stakeholders.
  • Analyse requirements specification documents in order to design a set of valid and negative test scenarios and test data files in CSV format.
  • Create SSIS automation test suite on the confirmed test data and scenarios using XML.
  • Test execution by automating the SSIS test suite or manually running SQL commands/agent jobs on the database.
  • Verify correct data row records from the test files are correctly inserted into the SQL Database Staging layer tables, Operational Data Stores (ODS), Views, Presentation layer tables, OLAP Cubes and that incorrect test files/data row records are rejected.
  • Raising any defects detected into Jira and liaising with developing team in defect meetings to confirm release deployment versions to be fixed for retest.
  • Completing the Iteration by writing test completion report with test and defects statistics.
  • Giving a demo to test assurance team to demonstrate test activity of the Iteration.
  • Maintenance of test scripts and test data from any changes in the database or change of requirements.

Test Consultant/Test Analyst

Capita O2

Joined the O2 Transformation programme working on the Connecticut project. The project works with an external software vendor (eGain) to transform and enhance the ways in which O2 interacts and communicates with their customers for the purpose of increasing call centre agent productivity and improving customer experience in the form of voice calls, inbound/outbound call tracking, web chat, video chat, co-browsing, the ability to switch between different journeys and media file retrieval and playback.

Role as a Junior Consultant/Test Analyst involves:

  • Designing templates for test scripting and defect log in Microsoft Excel
  • Creating test cases for the call track, multi-journeys, pre-canned reports and audit functionalities based on the requirements documentation which are also used to build a UAT test pack.
  • Configuring internet settings and creating test data in preparation for testing.
  • Manual test execution in test phases including – Confidence testing, Business Verification testing, Defect re-test and Regression testing.
  • Perform non-functional testing to test the non-functional aspects of the system including network performances and response times using various network connection methods (LAN, VPN, Wifi with and without Proxy).
  • Reporting and raising of defects detected during test execution into defect log.
  • Managing and maintaining the defect log and defect lifecycle on a daily basis in order to liaise with the external vendor to provide responses, solutions and fix deliveries.
  • Coordinating with UAT testers across 2 other sites (Dearne Valley and Preston Brooke) to ensure internet/network configuration settings and test results executed are in parallel.

Business Test Analyst

Close Brothers Ltd

Joined a project team for the delivery of a property lending system named 'Aurius' developed by an external vendor (Sword Apak) to replace Close Brother's current systems. Test phases includes component testing and system integration testing before going into UAT (User Acceptance Testing) stage. The whole project delivery also includes interfaces, report extracts and data migration.

Role as a Business Test Analyst involves:

  • Completing the traceability matrix mapping requirements through acceptance criteria.
  • Designing test cases to meet acceptance criteria using requirements documentation.
  • Preparing test data, executing and recording tests.
  • Maintaining a daily/weekly tests and defects statistics report.
  • Raising and documenting defects detected into Jira. Managing, retest and updating defects raised following each application sprint releases.
  • Tracking all issues found using a defect log template, following these up with the vendor as appropriate and attending weekly defect meetings.
  • Producing a regression test pack and regression test for every software releases.
  • Testing new functionalities, change requests and retest/closing defect fixes on each new software releases based on release notes.
  • Updating and working closely alongside the Business Analyst regularly with progress.
  • Participate in UAT workshops and meetings with business users to identify test scenarios for UAT test scripting.

Test Analyst

Endsleigh Insurance Ltd

A member of an Agile scrum team as a Test Analyst working on project ‘Gopher’. The project uses an Agile methodology taking on a mobile first/ready approach and responsive design to revamp Endsleigh’s and Zurich’s customer online account to be readily used on mainstream mobile devices common desktop browsers.

Role as a Test Analyst involves:

  • Attend daily stand ups to inform the scrum team of progress and raise any impediments or issues detected.
  • Attend sprint planning sessions to estimate user story points for the product backlog and breaking down user stories into individual tasks with an estimate of hours required to complete the tasks into the TFS task board.
  • Analyse requirements, communication and meetings with the team using the sprint specification in order to understand the structure and areas of testing.
  • Produce test scripts in Microsoft Excel for each user stories of the sprint based on the agreed/signed off sprint specification.
  • Reviewing of test scripts.
  • Manual test execution.
  • Raising defects on TFS product backlog.
  • Carryout exploratory testing for specific scenarios not covered in the scripts.
  • Write an end of sprint report detailing a summary/objective of the sprint, number of defects raised, metrics, number of cycles required, schedules and any impediments which affected the testing progress.

UAT Test Analyst

Harrow Council

Joined a team working on the Citrix Migration project for the council to migrate every user into a new Citrix environment with new devices and provide them the flexibility to remotely work from home. Users carry out UAT (User Acceptance Testing) to ensure all applications fully works and functional running on the Citrix desktop/environment. The stages of the project starts from application discovery, packaging, publishing and SIT (System Integration Testing) before they are ready for UAT.

Role as a Test Analyst involves:

  • Communication with the packagers and Citrix team to ensure the applications are packaged and published into the Citrix environment.
  • Carry out SIT on the applications to ensure they are ready for UAT testing by the client users.
  • Arrange, organise and attend client user meetings to prepare, setup and guide them through the UAT testing activity.
  • Raising defects discovered into Jira and monitoring the progress of these defects. Re-visiting client users to confirm it is fixed for re-tests.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate between project team and client users to ensure smooth running of the UAT testing process.
  • Running regression test scripts and designing test cases for the Citrix components and applications.

A 2 week placement to test Arqiva's customer web portal

Role as a Tester involves:

  • Running regression tests to make sure all the features and requirements of the web portal functions properly on all different kinds of devices including on the desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • Ensuring any modifications made on the desktop version of the web portal application are also changed or synced in the mobile version of the application.
  • Writing Test Cases on Microsoft Excel to test additional features of the Mobile app for test execution and documenting the results.
  • Using Jira to report defects detected on the web portal and assigning it to the appropriate developers and re-running tests on any previous bug fixes to confirm it is fixed.

DeltaRail Group

Joined a team working on the TTP system (Timetable Processor) to test all the background processes for timetable generation and software used to edit train details. This is carried out in the form of UNIX/Linux commands on a command line interface which interacts with MySQL databases and file configurations. Software/test tools used includes TFS (Team Foundation Server), Putty (Command Line) and WinSCP (File Directories).

Role as a Tester involves:

  • Execution of manual tests including functional, non-functional and regression testing.
  • Coding in Unix/Linux, SQL commands using Putty for testing.
  • Raising defects of the system on TFS re-executing tests for defect fixes.
  • Preparation of test environments and generating new sets of test data involving XML.
  • Reviewing of test scripts to make sure it is accurate, clear and conforms to requirements/documentation before it is ready for execution.

A spin out company of London South Bank University. IT summer internship placement to work on the commercial Biox project in the area of electrical, computer and communications engineering. The IT work is related to water vapour flux density, humidity and moisture using technology, used mainly for applications related to the skin.

Role as an IT Intern involves:

  • Producing video tutorials for users of the device named ‘Aqua Flux’ which involves video recording, video editing using the application ‘Camtasia Studio’.
  • Producing training manuals/guides for the users of the ‘Aqua Flux’ and other medical equipment in the form of interactive powerpoint presentation slides.

Final Year University Project/Dissertation

Income Prediction Model

Coded using HTML, PHP and MySQL I was able to implement a Data Mining algorithm called - Naive Bayesian Classifier used to classify and predict the most likely output results of a dataset. The algorithm is computed on a dataset used to predict whether a customer earns over or below 50k a year. Customers with over 50K income is assumed to be valuable customers whereas earning below 50K is assumed to be invaluable. The algorithm is based on applying the mathematical bayes theorem formula to calculate conditional probabilities for every single input attributes values such as age, education, occupation, hours work per week etc which would contribute to the process of calculating each customers income: how likely they would be earning either over or below 50K.
