Agency:The Korean Office acted as Manufacturing Agent for 5 Companies:Gabicci Plc (Men’s Casual wear), Reggie & Co Ltd (Ladies Rainwear), Bodner Elem Ltd (Men’s Jackets and Raincoats), Coconut Club Toronto (Men’s Casual wear) and Rose Cloak, New York (Ladies Outerwear).

Contract Manufacturing:The Hong Kong Office was the base for Offshore Manufacturing in Sri Lanka, China and Indonesia.The products made included outerwear, shirts and jackets.The customers were American and included Pacific Trial Inc, Winer Industries Inc, Mod Maid, Lou Levy, IZOD Inc, Havoc Inc, ELC Corp, Kalika Merchandise Co, Gordon and Ferguson of Delaware Inc, Arbetman Bros, Derby Inc of San Francisco, Ship ‘N Shore and Lane Bryant, Turnover achieved was US$7m.


·Establishing my own trading business in Korea, by detailed study and interpretation of the Korean inward investment regulations, then establishing offices in Hong Kong and Sri Lanka

·Developing a quality based contract manufacturing business, reaching a turnover of US$7m.

Our family were 25% shareholders in the AE Aspinall Group.I joined on the understanding that I could develop the business, which I did in the roles of Sales Director A E Aspinall (70 - 70).Managing Director Meshtex Ltd (72 - 79) and Managing Director E Gifford Ltd (75 - 79).


·Negotiating sales of textile printing and dyeing machinery and floor and wallpaper printing machinery with the UK’s largest groups;e.g. Courtaulds, C.V., Tootal, Sanderson Fabrics etc.

·Setting up, budgeting and forming a marketing plan of Meshtex, a commission rotary engraving business

·Sales to BHS, C&A, GUS and various other wholesale customers

·Visiting the Far East to source and develop products for the customers

·Negotiating the purchase of garments from factories already researched and approved by myself, regularly visiting Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Cyprus.
