Throughout her life and career, recent college graduate Sierra Shoopman has maintained involvement in a vast array of academic, charitable, and extracurricular endeavors, attaining a high degree of achievement in each of her pursuits. Raised in the Olympia, Washington, area, Sierra Shoopman consistently performed as one of the top students at Capital High School, excelling in the Running State program and enriching her scholastic experience through advanced coursework at South Puget Sound Community College. In 2007, Sierra Shoopman graduated from Capital High School and received an A.A. from South Puget Sound Community College, earning a Washington State Principals’ Award for Academic Excellence in the process. From there, Ms. Shoopman relocated to Seattle and entered the University of Washington, building upon her already impressive record of academic performance. From 2007 through 2011, Sierra Shoopman pursued topics in a wide range of subjects at UW, ultimately narrowing her concentrations to Biology and Chemistry. With regular appearances on the Dean’s list, induction into the UW Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization, and other awards, Sierra Shoopman maintained her status as a top undergraduate. As a premedical student, Sierra Shoopman also shadowed professionals in the medical field, learning from optometry, ophthalmology, and emergency services personnel. In addition, Sierra Shoopman held membership in the Kappa Chapter of the Delta Zeta sorority, where she served as Assistant Philanthropy Chair and Assistant Activities Chair. Sierra Shoopman graduated from UW in June 2011 with a B.S. in Biology.
Recognized for her service to the community, Shoopman has volunteered her time, energy, and resources to a variety of philanthropic organizations in the greater Puget Sound region and beyond. Over the years, Sierra Shoopman has participated in events that benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Stream Team of Thurston County, and The Painted Turtle, a summer camp affiliated with the Hole in the Wall Gang organization. In her free time, Sierra Shoopman enjoys all manner of recreational activities and flies kites, goes hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and cooks whenever possible.
