Ever since I was a child I have enjoyed making things, learning about the world, and interacting with people. As I’ve grown older I have realised I am constantly asking myself the same questions, how do things work, why they do what they do, and how can I do something better. In my view, these are some of the key questions constantly asked by engineers, and this is one of the reasons I have decided to study towards a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at the University of Auckland or Auckand University of Technology(AUT)next year, to become a professional engineer. I have always enjoyed challenging myself mentally, and hence looked for a career which would do this, making me use all my knowledge to find solutions, and so Engineering was an obvious choice. The job of a professional engineer is to take the problems which are facing the world today, to find solutions which have never been found before, to change the world as we know it today, and they must do this in the best possible and most efficient way.
