My role has involved:

  • Managing relationships with the view of improving organization and team relationships with the customer IT and business teams.
  • Advising the customer in defining an IT strategy. Conceptualizing and architecting the solution strategy as well as identifying the associated benefits. Examples include solution study for Creditor roadmap definition, process automation via BPM Lombardi for complex commercial lines renewal process, global instabnce of property survey management solution via use of MS-Dynamics.
  • Defining and managing service delivery, engagement models and IT contracts.
  • Managing different IT portfolios including E-Commerce, mobility, RAC and core insurance platforms across multiple business linesand being responsible for all IT delivery in my portfolio
  • Managing demand projections and its supply in close conjunction with Aviva business and IT
  • Managing multiple projects in IT for Commercial and Creditor insurance business
  • Overall responsibility for the solutioning and delivery of multiple projects in various methodologies like agile, waterfall, nimble including:
    • setting up new commercial products and risks for insurance
    • setting up claims for a new income protection product on the Creditor insurance system
    • migrating an accident management system in motoring business from legacy to a tactical solution
    • delivery of a new solution to meet FSAs new employer's liability insurance regulations


  • Pivotal in securing and managing setup of a lucrative £100 million, 3 year contract for application development and maintenance with a large UK insurer.
  • Designed an operational delivery process for IT change including a roadmap for embedding modern software engineering practices.
  • Led an IT portfolio of over £5 million p.a., driving strategy and operations to enable high quality change and run service delivery across e-commerce, mobility and core insurance policy and claims platforms
  • Jointly initiated with business head ofs in Commercial lines monthly demand and supply forums including a simplified process for shirt-sizing of business requirements which helped improve accuracy of demand projection by over 25%
  • Initiated, planned and executed several systems thinking projects in 2011-12 bringing in a total benefit of over a million pounds of operational savings for Aviva’s Commercial line of business
  • Orchestrated the transformation of IT services from application-based siloed to a service-based integrated model.
  • Executed a successful inception phase along with the business and another vendor for scoping and planning using distributed agile methodology for Guidewire PolicyCenter implementation to migrate a general insurance product.
  • Conceptualised an “end-state” Centre of Excellence model for Guidewire implementation, upgrades and production support across Aviva globally.

Project Manager - Transition of IT services from Wipro to TCS for a large UK Insurer

My role has involved project managing the transition of AD&M services from Wipro to TCS on core Commercial and Creditor business lines.

Key responsibilities included:

  • deciding the transition approach
  • planning and resourcing
  • identifying metrics to track project progress
  • managing the relationship with client transition manager, IT procurement and outgoing vendor
  • setting up the contract for steady state services

I delivered a successful transition with no production impacts.


  • Awarded TCS' Star of the Quarter in 2009 for successfully managing and earning client accolades on behalf of TCS.
  • This transition project was considered as the most successful transition project ever completed in the customer organization. The project was written as a case study, endorsed by the customer and used as a success story to be sold to other clients.

Role: Project Manager for a document migration project for a large UK based Life Insurer

Location:  Norwich from June 2007 to February 2009

The project involved implementation of HP Dialogue (then Exstream) as a strategic document composition system to replace legacy print systems using CSF, ASF or COBOL. It involved migration of over 1 million documents at a budget of over £5 million and was delivered over several releases in 2 years .

My role has involved:

  • Managing the IT workstream which included both TCS resources and an external vendor (Exstream) on behalf of the client
  • Planning, budgeting and liasing with different functions within and outside the customer organization, such as acceptance testing, business change delivery, an external printing company and various IT and business teams for each iterative release


  • The success of this project prompted the general insurance division of the same company to start its own strategic print program.
  • I was recognized for leading different initiatives associated with improving the engagement and providing value-adds through various TCS awards.

Other Projects, 2004 to May 2007

Role: Lead Designer and Technical Lead for core broker and corporate partnership insurance systems for a large UK General Insurer

Location : Multiple Locations, including India and Norwich from February 2004 till May 2007

My role has involved acting as technical lead and designer for delivering AD&M services for a Sapiens-based broker system.

Key projects designed and delivered:

  • A new low-cost motor product to be sold via third-party contact centres
  • Solutioned the migration and integration of three large household insurance partners each with approximately £1 million policies
  • Designed the integration of the customer's broker system with new software houses to improve channel reach
  • Solutioned a stand-alone motor insurance add-on product to be sold via brokers targeting a revenue of approximately £10 million over three years

I was recognised by the customer Head of Business for significant contribution in IT which in turn helped them achieve their business goals for 2005.

Role: IT Service Manager for large credit card company in USA

Location: Multiple locations in India and USA from Oct 2000 till Jan 2004

I was working with a large legacy application supporting credit and charge card data capture for markets in Australia, Asia-Pacific and Latin American countries.

Key responsibilities included co-ordinating application support, designing the disaster recovery approach for the application, capacity planning, demand management and six sigma initiatives to optimize usage of mainframe resources.


Awarded certificate of excellence by client's business partners for providing outstanding application support and service for the year 2003-04

Role: Application Developer for large US Bank's Tax Witholding Statement

Location: Bangalore, India from July 2000 till Sep 2000

Developed a new application per specification for a large US Bank to help meet US Internal Revenue Systems new tax withholding laws.
