Hi! My name is Shawna Haynes. In June 2011 I graduated from the University of Oregon's School of Journalism and Communication with a bachelor's degree, double focus in advertising and public relations. I am passionate about effective communication through writing, speaking and social media. I am an active member of PRSA and the PRSA PDX Metro Chapter.

I was selected as one of fifteen for the Portland Senior Experience, a premiere college internship program that takes place in Portland during senior year. During that time, I interned for the Office of the Mayor with the City of Beaverton. During my time at the University of Oregon, I sought out every opportunity I could to go above and beyond classroom learning to broaden my knowledge of communications. I was an active member and co-VP of Communications for PRSSA, an account executive for Allen Hall Public Relations and I participated in other various campus events.

I feel that my experiences at the University of Oregon have prepared me for a bright future in communications, and more specifically in public relations, advertising and marketing. I know that my passion, experience, education and motivation to excel at everything I do will make me an asset to your company.

As part of the Portland Senior Experience Program, I received the opportunity to intern with the City of Beaverton. Beaverton's motto is to be "the best of Oregon," and through my writing and communication skills, I help ensure we are truly "the best of Oregon."
