Shannon P. Murphy serves as the President and CEO of Murphy Mining & Exploration, LLC (MM&E), a mining, exploration, and development company organized in 2004 and based on the slopes of Pikes Peak in Cripple Creek, Colorado. As head of MM&E, Mr. Murphy is also involved with the organization’s associated companies, serving as the President and chief executive of Murphy Mining International, LLC; Murphy Mining South Africa Ltd; Caldera Rim Mining Company, LLC; Power Coal, LLC; and Providence Mining LLC. Shannon P. Murphy is the Director of Gold States Mining Corporation, Inc., and CEO of Rocky Mountain Alternative Technologies Inc. Additionally, in 1998, Shannon P. Murphy was appointed International Director of Terra Moya Aqua Inc.
Before establishing his own company, Shannon P. Murphy worked his way up through the mining industry. Born in Carletonville, South Africa, Mr. Murphy worked as a miner and shift boss in the Witwatersrand goldfields for eight years, gaining experience with the Doornfontein, East and West Driefontein, Kloof, Libanon, and Venterspost gold mines.
As a manager and director, Shannon P. Murphy has successfully undertaken numerous high-profile international contracts, including hard rock, high-speed development, tunneling, and support projects, for companies such as De Beers Consolidated Mines. In one 10-year period, Mr. Murphy directed the completion of more than 30 mines, and he has managed one of the largest raise boring fleets on the planet.
While leading MM&E, Shannon P. Murphy has partnered his company with professional racecar driver Savannah Rickli’s team. Sponsored by MM&E, Rickli completed her second Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 26, 2011, and both sides are eager to work together in the future.
Shannon P. Murphy is a retired veteran of the South African Defence Force. During his 13 years of service, Mr. Murphy completed deployments in Angola, Mozambique, and Namibia. He currently lives with his wife and is the proud father of six children.
