As President of American Senior Benefits, LLC, Shannon Nelson leads an office in Northern Michigan that furnishes a full complement of insurance products from some of the nation’s most reputable insurance and financial services institutions. In addition to directing the day-to-day operations of American Senior Benefits, Shannon Nelson serves on its National Advisory Council.Regarded for his leadership skills and his passion for protecting older Americans, Shannon Nelson continually strives to create a culture of learning among American Senior Benefits’ agents and managers. Mr. Nelson acts on the belief that accomplishment builds self-confidence, which in turn forms the foundation of leadership. As President, he strives to identify potential leaders—those who maintain a positive outlook that extends beyond their present position. Under Mr. Nelson’s mentoring, three Field Trainers have been promoted to Branch Manager positions.Shannon Nelson initially joined the Michigan office as a Branch Sales Manager and holds certifications as a Long Term Care Specialist and Senior Advisor. In prior years, he worked in the same industry, first as a Field Trainer, and next as Branch Manager. In 2001, Mr. Nelson won the Most Improved Branch Sales Manager of the Year award, and in 2006, he was invited to speak at the firm’s national sales conference.Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Nelson likes to golf and play billiards, baseball, and basketball. An avid reader, he makes it a habit to continually learn about business, professional growth, and leadership. Shannon Nelson considers The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker and Working Without a Net by Morris Shechtman among this favorite business books.
