Based in Tehran, Iran, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani serves as a Professor of Law at Islamic Azad University. Having first provided instruction in the late 1980s, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani began as an Associate Professor teaching international commercial arbitration and international commercial law; he now holds tenure on the institution’s faculty of law. In addition to his role as Professor of Law, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani co-leads the International Law Firm of Shirkhani & Alavi in Tehran. In this post, he oversees a team of five employees and spearheads the practice’s banking and financial sector work. With more than two decades of experience in law, he offers a distinctive understanding of Iranian laws and regulations, as well as its fluctuating economic conditions.Having studied abroad in the United Kingdom and the United States, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani leverages his background to bridge communication challenges during multinational negotiations. He represents a variety of clients, including Iranian corporations and financial institutions, and travels to Europe and other parts of the Middle East as an advisor and advocate. He and his firm assist large and small businesses with headquarters inside and outside of Iran.Before joining the workforce, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani studied law at Tehran’s Islamic University, from which he earned a Ph.D. During that time, he focused on international financial law. He also completed a B.B.A. at the University of Miami in Florida, and attended secondary school at Millfield Senior School in Somerset, England, where he excelled at diving and swimming and won multiple athletic awards.
