Provide information technology strategy, architecture and advisory services to the U.S. and Canadian federal government. Co-developed identity and access management (IAM) practice for Gartner Consulting to offer to US and Canadian Federal Government and worldwide commercial clients. 

  • Provided advisory services for the identification and management of risks associated with the federal applications' authentication process and mapped risks to the assurance level based on the U.S. e-authentication guidance.
  • Served as a trusted advisor, IV&V partner and a planner to the largest IAM project. Led the identification of project issues performing root cause analysis, as well as developed & reported recommendations that met client needs. Developed and reviewed verbal and written project communications.
  • Provided IAM strategy recommendation across HSPD-12 program management, technology and process.
  • Performed a cost benchmark for PKI based credential management solution

  • Co-authored intellectual properties such as Identity Synchronization for Windows deployment guide, Directory Services Best Practice, and ISP infrastructure assessment guide.
  • Served a key role in the architecture/implementation of a 5,000,000-mailbox mail system for an ISP.
  • Led ISP infrastructure audits, recommending scalability, availability, and performance improvements.
  • Directed the communications' products life cycle steering committee.
  • Successfully carried out complex LDAP and mail server migrations with challenging timeframes and minimum service impact, resulting in increased systems availability.

At Gartner, Anand Shah provides strategic IT consulting services as a member of the consulting practice, the premier IT research and market analysis firm worldwide. He offers more than 13 years of experience combining technology consulting, IT strategy and planning, solution design and implementations, project management, team facilitation, and mentoring. He also brings the experience in helping clients define IT goals and strategies to align with their business objectives, developing innovative and cost-controlled solutions to increase quality and performance, and enhancing cross-functional teams as a liaison between.

Currently, Mr. Shah co-leads the Identity and Access Management global consulting practice at Gartner Consulting. For the last year, he has focused primarily on providing U.S. federal clients with strategic planning, architecture and advisory services in the areas of Information Security, Risk Management and Identity and Access Management (IAM). He is an author of Gartner consulting's IAM maturity assessment model and service offering collateral. He provides leadership and marketing support in the development of the formal IAM practice for Gartner Consulting. He has been playing a key role in supporting the Gartner execution team for expanding the engagement from $250,000 to a value of over $4.5 million over four years.

Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Shah spent 8 years working at Sun Microsystems he held various positions including Identity Management product champion covering compliance, provisioning and access control. He also directed the communications' products life cycle steering committee.

Before coming to the U.S. Mr. Shah worked at Wipro Infotech, India as a sales engineer. In this role he enabled sales team by delivering technical road shows and generating tech notes and white papers. He organized and coordinated new product launches, and collaborated with the account teams to develop new business opportunities. He also architected and implemented the directory/messaging infrastructure for ISPs and financial services.

Mr. Shah received a Master's degree in Business Administration Florida International University. In addition to the MBA, he has earned diploma in Digital Electronics Engineering from India. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
