  • Leading the investment in the Reem Mall (US$1b super-regional mall) located on Abu Dhabi's Reem Island; responsible for originating and structuring debt and equity financing.
  • Overseeing and providing guidance as board member of MIH, a joint venture with Corinthia Hotels International valued at US$350m.
  • Managing existing portfolio of real estate investments valued at US$500m across Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and UAE.

  • Portfolio Management: monitored investment portfolio, managed JV relationships, and sourced buyers for divestitures.

Select deals include:

  • Led the technical feasibility, made revisions and managed the re-design process of a 3.7 million sqm mixed-use development in Qatar(Lusail) in an effort to enhance land use and improve return.
  • Structured and negotiated the sale of Arcapita's stake in a joint venture with Capitaland valued at US$60m.
  • Managed, as an investment committee member Ascendas Development India Trust(ADIT), a US$500m mixed-use portfolio, including retail, hotel and recreation. 
2005 - 2010

Vice President, Real Estate Investments

Asiya Investments, Kuwait-China
  • Co-invested and structured joint ventures with diverse partners, SWFs and international investment firms.
  • Built real estate as the largest investment sector in the company, successfully growing an investment portfolio in emerging Asian countries including mainland China and India.

Select deals include:

  • Real estate platform to develop residential townships in tier 2 and tier 3 cities for middle-income class. The platform raised capital in excess of US$400 Million, and invested successfully in 7 projects.
  • Joint Venture to invest in office buildings, retail and recreation space, across prime locations in Asia Pacific region. The portfolio achieved a combined IRR of 32% at exit.
  • Invested US$200 Million to build and operate 25 hotels targeted primarily at business travelers and located in central business districts in India.
  • Joint venture investment in the first Mainland China Private Equity Fund-of-Funds. Managed the full process from initial screening to closing and assisted in raising US$100 Million capital from the GCC.
  • Prospected and executed a US$100 Million investment in a leading New York based financial services firm currently managing US$10 Billion.
