In this six month contract position, I served as Creative Action's account service liason in the US. Stationed at the Eli Lilly headquarters in Indianpaolis, I worked full time in Eli Lilly's IT department as a dedicated resource for Creative Action, a preferred provider of apps, websites and OCM for Lilly. Here I interfaced with Lilly's global IT communications leads to create OCM communications around the release of new custom iPad apps for Lilly's intrernational sales force as they prepare to go laptop-free.  Additionally, I helped with the launch of a flipboard style employee communication vehicle and the IT channel within it; as well as developing new channels for promoting Lilly's IT achievements overall.

Direct and execute all traditional P.R. and social media projects for the agency's primarily healthcare-oriented client base, which includes companies from every portion of the healthcare spectrum, from Humana to hospital chains, to large physician groups, to nationally known specialists, to makers of medical testing products and supplements. Also manage the P.R. and community relations for this $30m agency, named #8 on Business First of Louisville's list of fastest growing companies in Louisville in 2009.


  • Helped Appalachian Regional Hospital chain avoid a media crisis surrounding contentious union negotiations by training all 10 of their CEOs in an all-day media/crisis training, featuring realistic simulations, camera crews and real reporters.
  • Placed and ghostwrote national column for acclaimed thoroughbred vet Dr. Steve Allday, and ghostwrote blogs for many of the agency's physician websites.
  • Frequent contributor on healthcare marketing topics for Healthcare Communications News, The Mayo Clinic Health Social Media Network (also charter member), Healthworks Collective and more.
  • Conceived and organized The Social Media Summit, the most successful and profitable events in the 25 year history of the International Association of Business Communicators-KY chapter, now three years running. The summit brings in national speakers and attracts digital media pros from throughout the region. As part of Vest's sponsorship, I spoke on the future of Healthcare & Social Media, and the agency conducted a large scale QR code campaign.

Ran full-time, independent communications consultancy providing strategic planning and project execution for some of the area's largest corporations and agencies, in addition to being a business feature correspondent to The Lane Report.

  • Handled all media relations for the year long celebration surrounding the 50th anniversary of Appliance Park, ensuring 100 percent local media participation for all events and feature coverage in the national trades; in addition to many other ongoing national assignments for GE.
  • Wrote, researched and achieved statewide pick up for ghostwritten column from Christian Care Communities CEO Keith Knapp on the coming crisis in access to long term care for the elderly.
  • Educated Decorá Cabinet's 1,000+ dealer network by conducting a national trend survey in conjunction with Kitchen & Bath Design magazine, producing a nationally-publicized report, creating dealer events at the Kitchen & Bath Show in Las Vegas, writing a new exhaustive product-based website, and launching a national tour with acclaimed designer Ellen Cheever. Sales for Decorá shot up 28%.
  • Served as PR counsel for Vest Advertising, executing a wide variety of writing, pr, and strategic planning projects for the company.

Corporate Communications Manager

LIghtyear Communications (formerly UniDial)

Was sole PR practitioner for this "Inc. Fast 50" company at the height of the telecom boom, working in tandem with the marketing department. Handled all internal, trade, local, executive, product and financial market communication. During these years, Lightyear (then UniDial) more than doubled in size and opened direct sales offices nationwide.

  • Worked with Creative Alliance to produce a Tech Summit, which brought together several hundred attendees, the heads of all the major tech companies in Louisville, politicians and the local media to discuss the needs of the growing Tech Sector in Louisville.
  • Created competitive can collection program which netted more than 50,000 employee-donated cans for Kentucky Harvest.
  • Worked with marketing team to produce numerous company-wide rallies, a major grand opening event for our new building including the fireworks team from Thunder Over Louisville, and more.  All events held between 400-2,000 people.
