Packing Engineer (1993 - 1995):

  • Engineered and installed 2 new packing lines for liquid detergent products, new sets of packing lines for flexible packs and stand-up pouches and new tablet soap finishing and packing facilities.
  • Transferred and upgraded 3 existing tablet soap finishing and packing lines to a new factory.

Packaging Development Manager (1991 - 1993):

  • Responsible for cleaners and soap businesses in Argentina, developed a packaging mix for fabric softeners and re-launched a line of tablet soaps.

Main achievements:

  • Launched new mixes for salad dressings, bouillon cubes & soups.
  • Developed a regional packaging strategy for food service and gave start to 6 projects linked with it.
  • Led a cost reduction and simplification programme for primary packaging in the two categories, providing 2,5m EUR in annual savings.

Catalyse packaging supply management projects and work as primary liaison between Supply Management, R&D, categories & other supply chain areas to reduce packaging costs by above 3% per year.

Main achievements:

  • Delivered a cost reduction and simplification programme for sales & distribution packaging systems, providing 2,1m EUR/yr in savings (7% of the spend base) and 34% complexity reduction.
  • Partnered with the rigid plastics SM leader and the R&D regional team in identifying a cost reduction programme with 2,0m EUR/yr in savings or 6% of the spend base in these materials.
  • Participated in the global SM rigid plastics team as technical leader for bottles and jars, defining global SM strategies and supporting a global business tender.

• Global Packaging Manager, Household Care

Unilever Italy

Duty:Develop packaging mixes for European and global projects and lead the global category packaging community, transferring knowledge and facilitating the global roll out of product mixes.

Main achievements:

  • Developed a new mix of abrasive cleaners, successfully launched in Europe. Facilitated its global roll within less than 12 months from the European launch. Provided global packaging savings vs. old mix of 15%.
  • Identified opportunities for global harmonisation through packaging simplification in general purpose cleaning products, with savings of 5m EUR/yr, over 18% of total packaging costs.
  • Developed a new child proof closure for thick bleach, with outstanding results in functionality and safety.

Duty: Develop new products and co-ordinate regional packaging activities in innovation and supply chain for Household Care in Latin America, linking with global technical groups to maximise packaging output world-wide.

Main achievements:

  • Supported innovation plan, enabling business growth of over 100% in 4 years & 3% year-on-year savings.
  • Formed and led the Packaging group and installed brand new laboratory facilities worth over 0,5m USD.
  • Developed a brand new mix of hygienic cleaning products for launch in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.
  • Developed innovative and technically challenging mixes of trigger-sprayer packs and squeeze-spray devices, successfully launching some of them in core markets.
