This is an inpatient unit with its intensive care units. Patients under go open and close heart surgeries and lung surgery patients where rehabilitated. And also rehabilitation of acute MI is also carried out in this unit. My duties and responsibilities in this unit: Handle about 30-40 in-patients everyday Interpretation of patients and referrals. Initial examination, evaluation, diagnosis & prognosis using standardized formats & development or modification of plan of care that is based on the initial examination or re-examination of the patient in the light of the anticipated goals & expected outcomes & revision of plan of care when indicated. Work on treatment planning, treatment execution, establishment of the discharge summary/status and home program for the patient. Written, verbal reporting and coordinating the work with other the other members of the team/other consultants. Evaluating the efficacy and effectiveness of both new and established interventions and technologies. Expertise in decision-making capability and when appropriate to utilize the physiotherapy aids, interns & ensures the delivery of service that is safe, effective and efficient. Clinical teaching, supervision, guidance, evaluation and work allocation of undergraduate students, interns and trainees. Organizing and participating in case presentations, case demonstrations, seminars, physio quiz & formal reviews. Supervising non-clinical staff. This is an outpatient unit where patients are referred from units like physical medicine & rehabilitation (PMR), Orthopedics, neurology, endocrinology, medicine & surgery, obstetrics & Gynecology, pediatrics and other specialties.

The common conditions treated are TBI, SCI, Parkinson’s, dystonia, cerebellar disorders, CVA, Cerebral palsy, spina bifida. meningomyelocele, spinal  muscular atrophy, coronary artery bypass grating, thoracotomy, respiratory condition, angioplasty, operative -# of upper and lower limbs and spine, total joint replacements, arthrodesis, ligament reconstruction (ACL, PCL) arthroplasty, ankylosing spondylitis, ,low back pain syndrome, spinal  and peripheral dysfunction, IVDP, rheumatologic & degenerative arthritis( OA,RA,PA) myofascial pain syndrome, musculo skeletal disorders, radiculopathies ,post op pain and PNI.

This is an inpatient unit which includes acute management of patients following traumatic spinal cord injury both Tetraplegia, & paraplegia of complete and Incomplete types, patients are conservatively managed also surgically  stabilized, Non traumatic spinal cord injury like transverse myelitis, tumor in spinal cord, spina bifida, complete myeolopathy; , traumatic brain injury like diffuse axonal injury, haematomas , prosthetic management of unilateral & bilateral amputation , ischemic, hemorrhagic, and brainstem stroke, cerebral palsy and other neurological disease like  amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, multiple sclerosis ,ADEM, muscular dystrophies , back pain, neck pain, upper and lower limb fractures, arthritis conditions and other physical conditions.

I took In-charge in general medicine and surgery unit with its ICU’s and was responsible for providing care to the patients requiring physiotherapy in an inpatient basis referred  from the following departments medicine, surgery, urology, hepatology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology, paediatrics, child health, developmental paediatrics, plastic surgery, medical oncology, haematology, radiation therapy with their respective ICU`s. This unit sees on an average of 50 patients per day excluding the ICU’s. The work is divided with a staff, physiotherapy interns and students.

 During this period my responsibilities includes
