New York spine surgeon Sebastian Lattuga, MD, runs a private practice with four New York offices in Brooklyn, Kew Gardens, Lake Success, and Manhattan. Dr. Lattuga treats patients for a wide range of spinal issues, including chronic pain in the back, neck, leg, and arm; scoliosis; myelopathy; spinal stenosis; and scoliosis. He typically exhausts all avenues before he performs surgery, but if a patient requires it, Dr. Lattuga can provide myriad procedures, including vertebroplasty, spinal fusion, lumbar disc microsurgery, cervical laminaplasty, and cervical posterior foraminotomy.
In June of 2011, Sebastian Lattuga, MD, received an appointment as the Team Physician for the Long Island Lizards, the Major League Lacrosse team in Hempstead. In September 2010, Dr. Lattuga offered his services for a pro bono surgery for Ray Lucas, former NFL quarterback who played for the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots, the Baltimore Ravens, and the New York Jets. Dr. Lattuga’s procedure relieved pain caused by pinched nerves in Mr. Lucas’ neck. Additionally, in 2009, he performed an emergency surgery on a New York woman and saved her from paralysis through a laminectomy, a procedure in which he removes part of a vertebral bone to relieve spinal cord pressure. Sebastian Lattuga, MD, frequently works with no-fault insurance policies and workers’ compensation programs, and has served patients from Local 264 Transport Workers Union of America, Iron Workers Local 40, United Steel Workers Local 285, and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 294.
Sebastian Lattuga holds a Doctor of Medicine from the Stony Brook University Medical Center School of Medicine. He subsequently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and a general surgery internship at New York City’s Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Lattuga completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Stony Brook University Medical Center and an adult and pediatric spine surgical fellowship at the University of Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital. Licensed to practice in New York, he remains a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a Fellow for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Lattuga belongs to the North American Spine Society, the Nassau County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of the State of New York. In addition to his other professional responsibilities, Dr. Lattuga serves as Chief of the Division of Spine Surgery at Franklin Hospital, part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System.
