Sr. Engineer, End User Collaboration

Morgan Stanley

At Morgan Stanley, I worked as an Engineer tackling problems and devising creative solutions to address the various needs of the firm's email delivery infrastructure and related applications.  This role required both in-depth knowledge of standards based mail delivery infrastructures that operate on a large scale as well as custom developed end user applications that interacted with the mail delivery plant:  message-blast applications integrating with directories, data repositories and content management systems, high profile fax receipt and delivery systems and mission critical mail compliance infrastructure.  This role required an ability to work with multiple teams, interface with a variety of internal platforms and ensure maximum reliability.  Comfortable engaging at all levels from senior IT leadership to engineers and support staff.

Oct 2007 - Mar 2010

SVP, Dir. of IT

WPP/Grey Group

Having started my time at Grey planning and implementing a global initiative to migrate the directory and messaging infrastructure to a single Active Directory / Exchange 2007 design, I graduated into a role that took responsibility for overall computing infrastructure and systems architecture.  The major initiatives I focused on during this time were:

  • Massive move from discrete physical server and storage architecture to a virtual computing environment and shared storage.
  • Automating data lifecycle management,  provisioning/de-provisioning, virtual systems deployments and desktop systems.
  • Implementing Sharepoint and various content management systems to modernize storage and distribution of unstructured data and website management.
Apr 2006 - Oct 2007

Messaging Engineer

Morgan Stanley

Tackled a variety of problems and developed solutions to meet the demands of a large, mission critical Exchange messaging environment.  Common projects included:  automating solutions to ensure compliance with regulatory demands, building tools to manage configuration across a large global messaging plant, designing and implementing a migration path from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007.  Typical day to day tasks included solving severe plant outages and determining root cause and remediation, designing tactical solutions to work around product bugs or environment issues.
