Storytelling

Storytelling is a great skill that I use every day. I am a person that likes to match things to other things and by doing that I can help other people understand what I am trying to communicate.   Through my photography business I would identify businesses that could use my services by researching their current marketing and evaluating if they were getting the message to their customer base. If not I would connect with them and match what I could do for them with photography by incorporating the passion of what they felt about construction and architecture into stories through photographs to be used in marketing materials.    Working as an intern for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay admissions department I had to constantly develop stories that potential students could relate to so they would make the decision to attend UWGB. This included the international students who’s language I did not know but I could relate to them what it would be to them to attend this school through an international recruiting video that was e-mailed to them.

Leadership

I have been involved in leadership since I was attending high school where I attended leadership classes through our school Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) organization.   In College there were times that I was the leader of small teams that I had to work with. There were other times that I stepped aside to let someone else lead and put their skills to the test. I did this from time to time not because I was older but because I have a desire to help people do more and be better. Leadership is not about me or how I want things to be but to make sure that the job gets done and that people get the skills they wish to gain.    When working at businesses I frequently led people on projects.

Communication / Writen and Oral

To talk is not the same as communicating. The message can only be transmitted and not transferred to someone else. By using my skills I have acquired through the past I am able to relate and connect with people both on a written and oral level. Anyone can talk or write but it is much harder to communicate meaning.

Strategic Problem Solving

Creating strategic marketing and business plans were an everyday part of my experience at my business and also the businesses I worked at after. By incorporating strategic problem solving into each of these positions I was able to differenciate myself from any competition.   When I attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, I was able to increase my abilities by systematicly using tools to lead and facilitate high grades for each of my classes that incorporated group case studies and projects.

Objective

To secure a Marketing Communication/ Public Relations position with an innovative growing company . I look to use my skills and abilities as a former business owner, employee and leader to help the company continue to exponentially grow in size and profitability.
