During summer break between my second and third year of university I worked for MEG Energy, an oil and gas company. Starting in July I received training on how to use MEG’s proprietary software to manage quality documentation for parts used on the pipelines and systems. During the summer I stayed at the MEG office and managed all documentation for MEG’s newest project, making sure it was all accounted for and indexed properly. I also did other projects based on directions from my manager.
During summer break between my first and second year of university I worked for Scholars Edge, a student painting company. Starting in February I received training on how to market and provide estimates for clients, manage jobsites, and hire painters. During preseason (March-April) I marketed my business and booked clients for painting during the summer. From May to August I managed my crew of painters to make sure they were completing jobs on budget and on time. I learned employee management skills, customer service and project management skills.
