Throughout his career, senior-level financial analyst Scott Merves has successfully managed hedge funds and investment opportunities with portfolios worth up to $1 billion. Mr. Merves began his career with a B.A. in Organizational Management from the University of Michigan. He earned membership to the Golden Key National Honor Society as well as University of Michigan honors for his academic achievements, graduating in May of 1993. He took up his first professional position as a Financial Analyst with Continental Bank of New Jersey. In November of 1994, Scott Merves began working with Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc., in New York City, achieving promotion to Associate Director in only four years. He served with Bear, Stearns & Co. until 2001, during which time he was voted Best Up-and-Comer in 2000 by the Institutional Investor Survey. Mr. Merves was also part of the team that received honorable mention as Best Stock Picker by the Wall Street Journal Analyst Survey in 1996 and 1999. Mr. Merves rejoined the Bear Stearns Companies as a Managing Director in Bear Stearns Asset Management. In this role, he helped manage two equity hedge fund strategies, including a Long/Short equity and a Market Neutral equity. Mr. Merves' contributions helped the Market Neutral equity fund to become the top-performing fund in the U.S. for 2005 according to MarHedge. Mr. Merves improved performance for both funds from 2002 through 2008, and improved risk management for both funds. In January of 2010, Scott Merves cofounded BroadArch Capital, LLC, and currently serves as Senior Analyst and Portfolio Manager. In this role, he runs two equity hedge fund strategies with a focus on U.S. equities and a consistent and disciplined management process. In addition to his professional duties, Mr. Merves serves as a board member of the R-Baby Foundation, a charity dedicated to ensuring high-quality medical care for infants. He lives in Short Hills, New Jersey.
