The Care

I was responsible for taking care of two boys ages 7 and 10. Some of my daily duties were to make them breakfast, lunch, and dinner, take them to appointments weekly, take them to the pool, clean up the house, and make sure they did any chores their father asked them to do. Though this job isn't relevant to my career goals it taught me a lot about time management, stressful environments, and responsibilities.

Through out my 3 and a half years at IUP I have learned responsibility, time management, life lessons, and most importantly who I am. I have changed my major 3 times and I finally found my niche that I am most comfortable with, and what I will be most proud of. I want to land an internship, then hopefully an entry level job at a PR firm, or business doing PR. I have high goals and expectations for myself to one day be in charge, showing a college student like myself the ropes of the PR and Marketing world.

Director, Social Events
This was an office I held in my nationally recognized sorority: Delta Gamma. While holding this office I was responsible for planning events such as formal, non alcoholic Greek events, sisterhood events, and activities. I planned 3 formals while holding this office and I learned A LOT. I gained communication skills- with this office I was required to call, email, and fax Delta Gamma executive offices in a limited time frame. I was required to book a venue, and select everything for the event from center pieces, napkins, the DJ, to the bus company that would transport us to the event. I enjoyed this office because I have a high interest in event planning. I listed this as a talent because I believe it shows my ability to work with others and plan major events under stressful circumstances.
Vice President, Communications
This was an office I held in my nationally recognized sorority: Delta Gamma. While holding this office I was responsible for communicating with the chapter at meetings or via email. Second, I took attendance points, if people did not have enough participation points logged they were not permitted to attend social events.I also oversaw the Public Relations chair: I made sure all social media sites were updated whether it was our DG twitter or Facebook account, and even our personal website. Last I made sure flyers were created to get our name on campus. I also made sure the flyers represented us in a way we wanted to be represented, and checked to see that they were posted in the correct areas on campus to reach the correct target audience.
