The program coordinator's role is to facilitate delivery of the Post R.N. Distance Education BScN Program and make recommendations to the Director of the School of Nursing and Laurentian Online's Program Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Program Planning and Delivery

Establish program schedules for delivery of courses in collaboration with Laurentian's School of Nurse and Laurentian Online

  •  Course Planning and Delivery

Project the number of students and create sections as necessary, advise Laurentian Online regarding the need for course or curriculum revisions. Hire all necessary professors and faculty advisors as well as track student registrations and withdrawals from each course. Create partnerships with health care agencies, in order to provide the students with the best clinical experiences. Ensure contracts are in place between LU and the agencies as well all WSIB forms.

  •  Academic Advising

Counsel students who inquire regarding admission to the program as well as course choices throughout their studies.

  •  Recruitment

Promote the program through individual contact with potential students, communicate with local agencies and assess the need for formal advertising.

  •  Facilitate Academic Changes

Facilitate changes through the university system, assess the need for course or program changes and ensure the related materials are changed in all written publications and websites.

  •  Evaluation and Reporting

Prepare and circulate reports regarding enrollment, program delivery and student learning opportunities and experiences.

  • Communication and Collaboration

Chair meetings, set agendas and maintain ongoing communication with the Program Manager and staff of Laurentian Online

Cardiac Care on the Web is an opportunity for Registered Nurses to achieve specialty training, prepare for accreditation opportunities, and acquire university-level credits with Laurentian University's Post-RN degree program. This experience facilitates independent learning. Cardiac Care on the Web is a series of online Distance Education courses made up of 12 stand-alone one-credit courses.

Duties:

  • Teach up to twelve one credit modules per academic year
  • Assist students in achieving their course objectives
  • Grade class assignments
  • Responsible for revising the online modules

Registered Nurse - Violence Intervention and Prevention Program

The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The SANE exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings.

Duties:

  • Perform and document sexual assault medical forensic interviews/exams accurately and timely
  •  Perform a complete medical forensic evaluation to include:
  • Head-to-toe medical assessment for trauma, detailed genital/anal examination
  • Forensic specimen collection and supportive documentation
  • Photo documentation of bodily and genital-anal injuries with competent documentation
  • Assess for mandatory reporting status and report when appropriate
  • Maintain chain of custody and adhere to evidence guidelines
  • Ensure patient/medial record confidentiality at all times (HIPPA)
  • Maintain professional standards that do not create conflict of interests with employment or patient care
  • Administer prophylactic medications and emergency contraception
  • Coordinate referrals for appropriate follow-up care as needed
  • Testify as fact witness to any/all cases performed while contracted as a SANE

Trousse de ressources

With the success of the quick reference guide introduced in the Cardiac Care on the Web program. I reviewed all the courses in the Post RN (french) program and created a quick reference guide for the students in order to assist them in their studies. This guide contains information on APA, journals, care plans as well as other tools utilized during their studies.

Active Offer

I coordinated a project with funds from Consortium National de Formation en Santé (CNFS). This project consisted of introducing Active Offer into the Post RN (french) program. Active Offer has been integrated into nine of the ten mandatory courses for the program. 

Desire2Learn


I am currently developing in collaboration with Laurentian Online, twelve short bilingual instructional videos that will assist faculty and staff in utilizing Desire2Learn. There will be an introductory video, as well videos to assist students in using the Dropbox, Discussion board and various others. This project is projected to be completed by December 2016.
