Reliance Infra - Mumbai Metro
  • As Head of Architecture Department from client side, manage and provide direction to the Architectural activities from design to construction stages.
  • Support the design & construction work undertaken at  on 3 metro lines in Mumbai & Delhi with 43 metro rail stations, 3 Depots, and ancillary buildings.
  • Advising the EPMC consultants (Systra – PB), detail design consultants, contractors on design & construction issues
  • Finalisation & approvals of Architectural design submitted by the EPMC
  • Finalisation & approvals of BOQ & tender documents submitted by the EPMC
  • Represent on company’s behalf for meetings with the government and other authorities.
  • Ensure provision of technical support to Subcontracting, Engineering & Budgeting Department for claims and Tender related matters.
  • Conceptualise and implement Management Procedure, Resource and risks management functions.
  • Analyse the compatibility of Architectural design with other Engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with bylaws, statutory regulations, coordinate architectural design with shop design team and subcontractor’s submissions.
  • Evaluate the material submission and work procedure/method statement and shop drawings.
  • Visit factories overseas to inspect materials to analyse the commercial interests of the Joint Venture.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to the Architectural Department by overseeing the design coordination.
  • Support the construction work undertaken at 50 metro rail stations, 3 Depots, 3 Main power stations and 3 car parks of Dubai Metro red and green lines.
  • Provide strategy and direction to the design team to support operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Gauge the performance of appointed consultant design and obtain approvals from the client General Consultant (Systra Parsons).
  • Monitor and direct the technical aspects of construction, interface co-ordination with M&E and System wide contractors.
  • Ensure provision of technical support to Subcontracting, Engineering & Budgeting Department for claims and Tender related matters.
  • Conceptualise and implement Management Procedure, Resource and risks management functions.
  • Analyse the compatibility of Architectural design with other Engineering disciplines.
  • Manage the preparation of Tender Works requirements of architectural BOQ’s and subcontract works.
  • Represent the Joint Venture on technical meeting with the client and 3rd party authorities for design related clearances.
  • Ensure compliance with bylaws, statutory regulations, coordinate architectural design with shop design team and subcontractor’s submissions.
  • Evaluate the material submission and work procedure/method statement and shop drawings prior submission to the client consultant.

  • Designed the Information Release Schedule and thereby attained almost 100% claims certified.
  • Successfully reduced drawing production of time by 50% by training site staff on the use of AutoCAD.
  • Spearheaded the design management of 450 super luxury apartments that includes 1 Five star hotel and a shopping mall for World famous OTCI project of Burj Dubai development.

Architectural Design Manager

Kumagai-Skanska-HCC-Itochu Joint Venture, Delhi Metro Project MC1A

Achievements:

  • Executed the responsibility as Architectural Design Leader for the first 4 stations of Delhi underground metro system after the expat consultant was terminated thereby saving upto 70% of the design cost.
  • Trained and developed the Indian staff for the first time to work on a Metro project in India. The Delhi Metro project brought a revolution to construction industry in India.
  • Key role in the development of products suiting the Indian conditions that minimised the budget of the Govt. funding by 35%.
  • Developed written specifications for Delhi Metro Project that has be honoured as a model for future projects of DMRC.

As a in house design Architect, handled complete projects ofTimes of India Press Complex in Sahibabd, Namgyal Institute of Ladakhi Art and Culture, Qutub Institutional Area in New Delhi, Lacoste Showrooms all over India and Nepal and various other company’s internal projects like office interiors and director’s residences. Appointed and worked with leading consultants of New Delhi for HVAC, plumbing, structural and electrical services.

1989 - 1995

Architect & CAD Manager

IAG Consultants Pvt. Ltd.

Started my career with IAG Consultants as part time architect from 1989 to 1993 while studying Architecture. One of the first Architects to have hands on CAD in India, I was dealing with all presentations and database preparation for automating the tasks of an Architectural office. In 1990, we got the prestigious project of Vasai Virar Sub Regional Development, where for the first time in Indian history we utilized the remote sensing data from satellites for the purpose of town planning. Learning from the basics, I ultimately customized the initial DOS based versions of AutoCAD to deliver accurate and fast database of land use on the project. The same was provided for use to CIDCO of Maharashtra State Government. Other projects handled during this period were Tata Housing at Mumbai, Earthquake relief housing at Latur, Sir Aga Khan Housing at Pune, Kajurmarg District Centre Planning, Bank of Maharashtra, WIAA club Interiors, Indian Oil Head Quarters Interiors etc.
