Work experience

May 2010Present

Part-time reporter

As a part-time reporter I work mostly in the evenings. During this time, I answer phones, write briefs and cutlines, correct proofs and listen to the police scanner for breaking news. At times I am sent to cover meetings and events during my shift. I also write a biweekly feature story for the City/Region section of the paper. On the weekends I am responsible for death notices and obituaries.

As a news editor I budgeted news stories for two weekly issues and assigned photos/art and reporters to them. I also wrote at least one article per issue, while editing copy.

Student Writer

UW-Eau Claire News Bureau

I wrote press releases about faculty and student accomplishments and campus events and activities to be submitted to the news media. While writing releases I utilized Associated Press as well as the News Bureau’s own editorial style guidelines. I also blogged for the News Bureau and the Center for International Education about my experiences as a foreign exchange student. My blog can be viewed from links on both the News Bureau and CIE websites or at
