The current Director of Research and Student Development for the Elmsford Union Free School District in Elmsford, New York, Sandra Ankier is an accomplished educator and administrator who has served the New York City area for more than 20 years. Ankier’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Education and English from Manhattan College in Riverdale, a Master of Science in Reading from Fordham University in New York City, and certification in Staff Development and Administration and Supervision from College of New Rochelle. Returning to Fordham in the mid-2000s, Sandra Ankier emerged with her Doctor of Education degree in 2007. During her career, Sandra Ankier has served as a high school teacher, a reading specialist, a staff developer, an assistant principal, and a college professor. In her current role as Director of Research and Student Development, Sandra Ankier implements, directs, and evaluates all aspects of the Elmsford Union Free School District’s Departments of Special Education and Pupil Personnel. Her duties include supervising all programs, curricula, and services for English Language Learner students; overseeing pupil services personnel; working with staff to identify and address at-risk students; and acting as Chairperson for the Committee on Preschool Special Education and the Committee on Special Education. Ankier is also responsible for acquiring state and private grants to fund department programs. Sandra Ankier is a member of the Association for Supervision Curriculum Development and Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society for educators. Ankier also holds permanent certification with the State of New York in five separate professional educational categories, from Early Childhood Education to School District Administration.
