A Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Sam Totora has cared for patients for more than 30 years. The recipient of a Master of Science in Psychology and a Master of Family Therapy in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling, Totora began his career as a clinical coordinator, social worker, and program director with the Residential Program at Archway School in Atco, New Jersey. Today, he provides his services at Family Foundations in Mays Landing and at Cape Counseling Services in Rio Grande, New Jersey. As the owner and primary therapist at Family Foundations, a private mental health practice, Sam Totora treats families, couples, and individuals, applying a variety of techniques during his sessions, including hypnotherapy, marriage therapy, domestic violence counseling, and sex therapy. Advocating non-violent, compassionate communication, he also works to ease the divorce process for children by encouraging cooperative parenting. Since 1983, Sam Totora has worked with Cape Counseling Services and its affiliates, including the Rainbow of Hope Psychiatric Community Home. First joining the firm as an outpatient therapist, he aided youths in New Jersey's Special Services School Districts and made sure that the facility fulfilled its contractual obligations with the state’s Department of Mental Health Services, its Division of Youth and Family Services, and the County of Cape May. Subsequently, Totora spent 16 years as the firm’s Outpatient Services Manager.For the past nine years, Totora has been Director of Children and Family Services at Cape May Counseling Services. In his supervisory position, Totora plays important roles with many of his firm's initiatives, including outreach programs such as the Functional Family Therapy Team and the Court Community Companions Program.
