Pixelmatic creates amazing social mobile games. Our mission is to spark the imaginations of people everywhere through games. Pixelmatic is pioneering true cross-platform games with the development of an engine that enables seamless accessibility across major social networks and mobile devices. Founded in 2011, Pixelmatic is a privately held corporation with offices in Shanghai and Vancouver.

Director of Production / Executive Producer

Ubisoft

Directly oversaw the project management and IT departments while managing daily studio operations. Spearheaded numerous efficiency and procedural improvement measures in the production disciplines as well as supporting areas such as HR, finance, and administration. Established budget and staff/resource tracking processes which lead to consistent reporting to head office. Transitioned the studio from a training center into one capable of developing quality products for worldwide markets. Responsible for ongoing development and live operations of the web strategy game "Might & Magic: Heroes Kingdoms" in Asia; the title was completely revamped and adapted to suit a micro-transactional business model before being launched in South Korea in collaboration with NCsoft, as well as Southeast Asia and China. Created the "& Co" social game franchise which includes "Castle & Co" and "The Smurfs & Co." "Castle & Co" was developed in 6 weeks and launched on Facebook, followed by mixi in Japan, and Naver in South Korea. Pitched the concept for "The Smurfs & Co" to Lafig and worked closely with head office to secure the licensing agreement; personally lead development to ensure the game was able to launch simultaneously with The Smurfs Movie, while also arranging integrated cross promotions with Sony. "The Smurfs & Co" is Ubisoft’s most successful social game to date, reaching over 10 million users through organic growth.

Sitemasher was a Vancouver based startup developing a SaaS platform for building custom data driven websites and apps. Sitemasher was the winner of the 2008 Blue Sky Innovation Excellence Award from Microsoft, and was one of 14 exclusive software companies selected for the Innovation Showcase at Software 2008/Interop Expo. Sitemasher was acquired by Salesforce.com and rebranded as Site.com.In charge of operations and business development, along with the management of the web development division and technical support department. Responsible for sprint and feature planning, defect prioritization, platform operations, billing system, account management system, and marketing.

Responsible for sprint and feature planning, bug prioritization, resource allocation, recruitment, performance reviews, eSports initiatives (WCG), and department management. Staffed and managed the game balance department which was a key driving factor in the quality of Relic's franchises such as "Dawn of War" and "Company of Heroes." "Company of Heroes" was the highest rated strategy game of all time and 6th best PC Game of all time (gamerankings.com). As part of Relic’s online division, launched the relic.com website, drove development of the Relic Online platform (lobby, chat, multiplayer matchmaking), and directed online operations for all titles. Samson oversaw ongoing development and live operations of the cross-platform (web and iOS) MMO strategy game "Might & Magic: Heroes Kingdoms" in Asia, along with the social games "Castle & Co" (Facebook, mixi, Naver) and "The Smurfs & Co" (Facebook, mixi). "The Smurfs & Co" is Ubisoft’s most successful social game to date, reaching over 10 million users through organic growth. Prior to Ubisoft, Samson was in charge of business development and operations at Sitemasher, a Vancouver based startup developing a SaaS platform for building websites and apps. Sitemasher was the winner of the 2008 Blue Sky Innovation Excellence Award from Microsoft and was later acquired by Salesforce.com and rebranded as Site.com.Samson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in Canada. As a veteran of the game industry, Samson regularly features as a speaker and panelist in conferences such as GDC and CGDC.
