Residential Care Worker

For the last few months I have been a residential care worker in Barnstaple. My role was to care for three teenage boys in a home environment who had come from difficult backgrounds. Each day I would be taking the boys to school or to the park and overall trying to make a better life for them.

Saint Georges House

Feb 2015Nov 2015

Outdoor Instructor

St. Georges House is a Christian Outdoor Centre in North Devon catering for schools and youth groups. Between February and November I worked here instructing many activities including surfing, climbing, kayaking etc. This was very enjoyable and challenging and taught me to step up and lead many sessions. It was crucial that we worked together as a staff team and brought a positive attitude with us to work to give guests the best time possible. I believe that a positive attitude in any work place is important.

Parker Hannifin

Last winter I worked at Parker Hannifin shipping boxes and pallets to various oil companies around the world. My job was to create labels from invoices, pack the boxes and make sure the right items get sent on the right days. This was great work because I enjoy working on a computer, my boss was really friendly and gave me lots of responsibility.

Recreational Assistant

For a couple of years I worked at North Devon Leisure Centre as a recreational assistant, my responsibilities life guarding the pool, clean different areas of the leisure centre and to set up equipment in the sports hall before groups arrived. This was very organised work because we rotated between different positions around poolside and couldn't be on poolside for over 90 minutes as well as knowing what needed setting up or cleaning.
