Work experience

Chief Executive Officer

GEO is an initiative to mitigate climate change through adaptation.

·Lead Coordinator “Good Stoves and Biochar Communities” Project, supported by GoodPlanet / Action Carbone, Paris, France. Objective: To promote the improved production of biochar to save forests’ resources and bring social benefits to rural communities. To encourage the application of biochar into Indian soils to increase land’s fertility and to sequester carbon for hundreds or thousands of years. In this project working with rural communities in parts of Andhra Pradesh state.

oDesigned efficient low-cost stoves including TLUDs. “Magh 3G stove” is one of the highly successful model with thermal efficiency of around 27% (maximum achieved is 40%+ ). “My Home Stove” highly suitable for refugees with 20% thermal efficiency can be trained for production to communities within a day. Given training to sex workers in Mumbai, communities in Uttarakhand, Orissa, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu states. So far designed 50 low cost efficient stoves including institutional stoves.

oFirst person in India to initiated the Biochar compost preparation and application methods in India Had been conducting research and studies in parts of India since 7 years. In this project conducting studies field trials with 25 farmers and the results are highly encouraging. Trained several organisations and communities in parts of India, as well in Bangladesh.

oDesigned 5 efficient charcoal production technologies for effective utilization of crop residue (other wise burnt openly / wasted) and Prosopis Juliflora (an extensive invasive exotic species).

BIOCHAR Had been involved in the Biochar production and application Biochar India   Biochar Production Designed the simple Biochar / charcoal production technologies       GEO Biochar stove  GEO Biochar Pit kiln Holy mother biochar kiln Magh Biochar retort 2 Magh Biochar retort 1 Biochar trench Mound Mini Biochar retort   All the Magh Series stoves are biochar producing stoves found at (total stoves designed so far are 50 nos)     Biochar Application Designed methods of preparation of Biochar compost using Biochar for reclaiming the degraded soils / improving the soil fertility for increase in yields and carbon sequestration. Had been the pioneer and introduced Biochar in parts of India. Coined the term “Biocharculture” to explain the intricate relationship of Biochar with all other Biotic and Abiotic aspects. Started the Biocharindia e-group and am the founder of “The Society of Biochar Initiatives”, India. Networked with organizations, universities and institutes in India working on Biochar.   Biochar water filters: Designed safe water systems using locally available Biochar and other material. | Biochar Bricks : Had been one of the first persons to introduce Biochar bricks. Biochar Bricks are useful for – carbon sequestration, insulation, reduction of structural weight, emissions reduction, reduction in relative humidity, etc. Biochar Urinals : Designed simple urinals using Biochar, which reduce emissions and tap the urea and other components from urine. Useful as a fertilizer and also for carbon sequestration. Biochar Urban Gardens: Devised methods of using Biochar compost for urban gardens. Research Centre and Museum: Started the first museum on good stoves (including display of traditional stoves). The Biochar experiments, charcoal production experiments, designing and testing of stoves, trainings and awareness, etc., are done here. |   STOVES   Good Stoves : Designed more than 50 low-cost efficient biomass stoves including TLUD / Gasifier stoves. | In the last 7 years had been working intensively on the good stoves designing. Facilitated stoves and built capacities on stoves studies, production, facilitation and monitoring of cook stoves. The activities are done in 8 states from India and also in Bangladesh. For capacity development and awareness covered about 200 organisations in parts of India and 15 organisations in parts of the world.
