GEO is an initiative to mitigate climate change through adaptation.
·Lead Coordinator “Good Stoves and Biochar Communities” Project, supported by GoodPlanet / Action Carbone, Paris, France. Objective: To promote the improved production of biochar to save forests’ resources and bring social benefits to rural communities. To encourage the application of biochar into Indian soils to increase land’s fertility and to sequester carbon for hundreds or thousands of years. In this project working with rural communities in parts of Andhra Pradesh state.
oDesigned efficient low-cost stoves including TLUDs. “Magh 3G stove” http://e-magh3g.blogspot.com/ is one of the highly successful model with thermal efficiency of around 27% (maximum achieved is 40%+ ). “My Home Stove” http://myhomestove2.blogspot.com/is highly suitable for refugees with 20% thermal efficiency can be trained for production to communities within a day. Given training to sex workers in Mumbai, communities in Uttarakhand, Orissa, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu states. So far designed 50 low cost efficient stoves http://goodstove.com including institutional stoves.
oFirst person in India to initiated the Biochar compost preparation and application methods in India http://biocharindia.com. Had been conducting research and studies in parts of India since 7 years. In this project conducting studies field trials with 25 farmers and the results are highly encouraging. Trained several organisations and communities in parts of India, as well in Bangladesh.
oDesigned 5 efficient charcoal production technologies for effective utilization of crop residue (other wise burnt openly / wasted) and Prosopis Juliflora (an extensive invasive exotic species).
·Lectures on Natural Resources in Construction, Environmental Management, Good Stoves and Biochar for CDI, ESCI, MCR-HRD IAP, AMR-Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development, NIRD, etc. And Guest Lectures and resource person to various national and international organisations.
·Geoecological restoration of Mining Areas in Parts of GOA, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, in Partnership with ESGI, Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.
·On Disaster Management in Flood Prone areas along Godavari River, conducted trainings and studies for EFICOR, New Delhi. Khammam Disaster Mitigation and Preparedness Project, Evaluation Report prepared http://eficor.org/ , APRIL 2008.
·Consultant to Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Development Corporation, documented the historic 2009 Krishna river floods occurred in Andhra Pradesh State.
·Designed “GEO Spirit” course and conducted five camps for youth and professionals i.e., to create Leaders for Earth.
Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Development Corporation (APSIDC) http://www.apsidc.in/, Consultancy services to Strengthen Social Engineering and sustainable livelihoods in Lift Irrigation Schemes. Supporting APSIDC social engineering cell team in the following areas: APSIDC facilitates about 1800 lift irrigation schemes covering about 10,000 habitations and an ayacut area 12,00,000 acres and largest in the country. Social engineering has a team of 150 personnel, APSIDC officers, support organisations and community social engineers covering 14 divisions and 22 districts.
