Summary

In my three years (so far) as a student at Elon, I have had two internships, co-founded a movement/idea/company for local music, became deeply involved with student radio and I am conducting undergraduate research. When I graduate, I hope to find a job that combines my talents and my love of music.

• Develop contacts with musicians, local businesses, radio stations, and other individuals involved with the local music scene in North Carolina in order to unite the music community • Write press releases and informational letters to best inform the community of Choose Local Music's actions and developments • Maintain personal relationship with audience and customer alike • Plan promotional campaigns and organize events spotlighting local music • Plan events to build and promote the music community • Promoting music community events like CD release parties and summer music festivals • Promoting local music events and community benefits through use of Twitter (twitter.com/clmnc) and Facebook group with over 450 members Internship

• Lead a small executive staff of nine people to ensure the different elements of the radio station are maintained • Lead a general staff of over 40 disc jockeys to develop a variety of on-air talent • Coordinate the radio station's efforts with the efforts of Elon University's other organizations and the media • Develop new ways to reach student and community audiences • Manage business contracts for radio station sponsors • Monthly budgeting, payroll and bill paying • Interacting with the community to best serve listener needs

Research: Survey And Focus Group Development & Analysis

Research for a strategic campaign, a campus radio station audience analysis, and an academic paper and presentation on the future of music and the web.  In doing so I have developed, implemented, and analyzed focus group and survey questions.

The School of Communications at Elon University provides classes in which students are expected to act as if in a professional environment and are given professional, career related assignments. To compliment my BA in Communications, I will graduate with a Business Administration minor. In addition to classes in Communications and Business Administration, I have taken relevant courses in: sociology and sociology of popular culture, music theory, music production, and statistics.
