After graduating from Louisiana State University in the state’s capital city of Baton Rouge, Ruston Rhorer utilized his education and training to instruct a range of science courses in the Iberville Parish school district, located to the southwest of Baton Rouge, as well as in the East Baton Rouge School Parish district. In both regions, Mr. Rhorer stood out for his classroom energy and ability to connect with his students. At his school in East Baton Rouge, the science department showed the first Graduation Exit Examination (GEE) test score improvements in several years under Mr. Rhorer’s leadership. Prior to entering the profession, Ruston Michael Rhorer passed the necessary tests, including Praxis examinations in several science areas, in order to teach grades six through 12. Presently, Mr. Rhorer teaches life science, forensic science, chemistry, and physics at White Castle High School, part of the Iberville parish. Mr. Rhorer, with an undergraduate concentration in Chemistry, also instructs the honors chemistry students. During non-classroom hours, he assists remedial students as a science tutor. At his previous school, Mr. Rhorer taught chemistry and honors chemistry while executing his duties as the Science Department’s Chairperson. His additional classroom experience includes two student teaching roles and several instances of class observation while he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education.Aside from his classroom management and teaching skills, Mr. Rhorer possesses familiarity with, and is able to guide his students’ use of, chemistry lab equipment. He is proficient with the Microsoft suite of desktop software, has built computers, and can handle technical support issues common to the classroom setting. When not engaged with his students or their homework, Ruston Michael Rhorer enjoys reading history, philosophy, religion, and literature. His other interests include writing and playing the piano.
