As a native of Barre, Vermont, an area recognized for its granite industry, Rugo drew inspiration from the landscape as well as the history of his grandfather, a former stone carver in Italy. He garnered experience in a marble shop and on urban construction sites, working on a wide variety of stonework. Upon graduation from college, Rugo joined well-regarded contractor Moliterno Stone and obtained an extensive working knowledge of the industry. In 1996, he sought to channel his skills into a business of his own and founded Rugo Stone, LLC.Today, Rugo Stone, LLC, serves a host of prominent clients, including the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, The National Headquarters of the American Red Cross, The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, and the Washington, D.C., Convention Center. Rugo Stone undertakes architecturally complex requests, integrating a passion for classicism with the resources available through modern technology to offer works that prove both sound and attractive. The company holds extensive expertise in highly detailed stone shop drawings, marble and granite fabrications, and installations of natural stone and mosaic.The staff members of Rugo Stone, LLC, possess extensive backgrounds in engineering and architecture and have earned numerous accolades, among them the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen’s Marble Mason of the Year. Since its founding, Rugo Stone, LLC, has completed $100 million in commercial and residential projects and has earned more than 30 awards for craftsmanship.
