Summary

A preview of my dedication to this practice: Actively pursuing a career in the field of Dietetics as a Registered Dietitian with a focus on leadership in the community, public health, and wellness.  Nutrition is more than a career for me, but it is a lifelong passion and I hope to spread my knowledge and enthusiasm throughout the community.

Dietetic Intern with a focus in community dietetics. Completed comprehensive program at four separate Ohio facilities which included 9 weeks of clinical, 9 weeks of food service management, and 12 weeks of community rotations, in combination with receiving 15 Master's Credits.

  • Organized cook out that helped provide community with nutrition education Spring 2011
  • Assisted in organizing University pancake breakfast to provide community with Nutrition Education Spring 2012
  • Organized two separate informational booths about portion sizing at University welcome back picnic Fall 2011
  • Attended several dietetic speakers about various topics such as counseling, community nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy Fall 2010 - Spring 2013

  • Looked at the Association between Night Eating and Body Image among College Students
  • Constructed my own questionnaire in order to acquire data
  • Used SPSS computer program in order to find any significance in data obtained
  • Wrote up a professional abstract with results found from data analysis

Planned and Organized Booth for Ashland County Nutrition Fair Spring 2012

  • Assisted in developing Nutrition Fair activity related to healthy snacking that allowed participants make their own custom trail mix snack
  • Assisted the participants in making appropriate portion size choices

Volunteered for Ashland County Food Bank Fall 2011 and Fall 2012

  • Toured the facilities
  • Assisted in project called "AU GIVES" in order to get community members to donate food

Peer Mentoring Program Fall 2011 - Fall 2012

Salvation Army Kroc Center Soup Kitchen Fall 2011

  • Volunteered for ten week program and helped distribute meals to Ashland community members

Ashland University Fish Project Spring 2012

  • Spread awareness and provided nutrition education about the benefits of fish consumption to Ashland University students
  • Actively participated in serving and passing out fish in Ashland University cafeteria

Ashland County YMCA Kids Fit Spring 2012

  • Developed a lesson plan about MyPlate and portion sizes
  • Presented lesson plan to YMCA children after school program

National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association Fair Spring 2011, 2012, 2013

  • Presented information about food substitutions while baking
  • Assisted in creating survey based on which food substituted cupcake was preferred
  • Presented information about sugar and sugar substitutes in different foods
  • Assisted in creating survey regarding which lemonade with different added sugar substitutes was preferred
  • Wrote up an article about the fair and the results founded by the survey and was then added to AU Student Dietetic Association Blog
  • Presented information about anti-oxidants and nutrition claims on different food items

Shadowed Case Western Prevention Research Center Dietitian Spring 2012

  • Toured research facility
  • Learned about the different community prevention projects in Cleveland, Ohio then gave presentations about each of the projects

Nutrition Public Service Announcements Fall 2011

  • Wrote and delivered two separate nutrition related public service announcements on the local Ashland University radio station, 88.9 WRDL

  • Volunteered to help prepare and serve food in the concession stands

Meal Planning Spring 2013

  • Practiced medical nutrition therapy and constructed meal plans based on different case studies

Counseling Fall 2012

  • Practiced counseling skills by obtaining a 24 hour recall on video tape based on case studies given in class

Public Policy

  • Chose current public policies including those of school lunch programs and nutrition food labeling and had to interpret them in our own words
  • Wrote a letter to public officials regarding factors of these public policies that I agreed with and disagreed with, as well as some ideas to change the policy.

  • Oversaw, operated, and delegated responsibilities and functions of the Sorority's day-to-day
