About Roy MacDowell

Roy MacDowell has been active in the field of property development and renovation since founding the MacDowell Company in 1968. For much of the intervening period, he led his design and construction company, which continues to serve a diverse client base from its offices in Weston, Massachusetts. Roy MacDowell currently focuses his professional efforts on real estate investment and community improvement as principal of Weston-based Baystone Development.

Over the course of his career, Roy MacDowell has garnered an American Planning Association National Award, a Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, and an Urban Land Institute National Award. He also won a Massachusetts Historical Commission Award for his restoration of the Associates Block in Arlington, Massachusetts, a project that was deemed architecturally significant.

In 2000, Mr. MacDowell received the Design Excellence in Housing Award from the Boston Society of Architects and a Jury Citation for Community Revitalization as part of the AIA New York Chapter Housing Design Awards. These accolades honored his work on Cronin’s Landing, a 507,000-square-foot, mixed-use building on the Charles River in Waltham, Massachusetts.
