Allan has been issued more than 40 patents.
Allan is known internationally as the pioneer and principal developer of photoacoustic spectroscopy and thermal wave technology. He has published over 120 research and review articles in this field and more than 30 articles in other areas of research. Three of his publications appeared as feature cover articles in the journals Science, Physics Today and Analytical Chemistry. Ten articles appeared in Physical Review Letters. Allan is also the author of the book "Photoacoustics and Photoacoustic Spectroscopy”.

After a career as a research physicist and head of a company manufacturing instrumentation for the semiconductor industry, Allan Rosencwaig has moved into consumer electronics.
He is the founder of Aris Displays Inc., a start-up company producing a high-definition digital picture frame and associated media e-store.
The digital picture frame, the Aris Imager, has a large format 22 inch LCD screen. It is framed and matted, wall-mounted and supports any kind of multi-media display -- image slide shows, standard video, HD video, audio and PowerPoint.
The media e-store, the Aris Gallery, provides high-resolution images from the National Geographic Society, fine art images, space and Hubble images and HD ambient videos.
