Systers Program Manager and Communities Engagement Manager

Anita Borg Institute

Systers is the world’s largest email community of technical women in computing and started by Anita Borg.  As Systers Program Manager, I collaborate and integrate with other program communities at ABI (non-profit) to recruit, retain and advance women in technology through social media presence, leverage Systers’ volunteer community, and continue leadership for the Systers community.

As a mentoring organization in the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) program, Systers is involved in open source community through it's use of GNU Mailman listserv. Working with Python Software Foundation, Mailman and OSUOSL, we are able to customize our Systers Mailman listserv with specific features developed by our community members who are students at the time they are enrolled in GSoC.  I am the organizational administrator for our Systers organization.

I am our organizations diversity officer managing all of our sub-communities to include Underrepresented Women in Computing, Latinas in Computing, Black Women in Computing, LGBT, Turkish Women in Computing and Arab Women in Computing.  I work with our community members and leaders to develop new communities for special cultural and technical interests.

I am also on the IT team managing backend applications for our Systers Pass-It-On Awards program, volunteer management system and Best of Systers blog and social channels.
