About Ron Widman

In preparation for a career as a teacher and educational administrator, Ron Widman earned a bachelor of education in elementary education from the University of Toledo and completed a master of education in education administration at Ashland University. Licensed to teach by the Ohio Department of Education, Ron Widman also possesses elementary school principal, middle school principal, and superintendent certificates from Ashland University.

Ron Widman began his career as a fifth grade teacher and Sallie Mae First Year Teacher Award finalist at Harmon Elementary School in South Western City Schools, and later worked at the school as a staff development teacher. For 15 years thereafter, he served as principal at several Ohio primary and middle schools, including Elida Middle School, Scottish Corners Elementary, Dohron Wilson Elementary, and Sycamore Creek Elementary. During his time as a school principal, Ron Widman collaborated in the implementation of the Skillful Teacher Professional Development Program, served as Dublin City Schools elementary principal leader for two years, helped faculty enhance their knowledge and aptitudes, and instituted a special education model based on inclusive co-teaching.

Currently, Ron Widman works with the Ohio Department of Education as a School Improvement Team Specialist at the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County in Independence, Ohio. Responsible for supervising the Ohio Improvement Five-Step Process, he helps facilitate the continual improvement of learning outcomes at Ohio’s schools by assisting school districts across the state to incorporate systematic changes and best practices based on data collected from national, state, regional, and local resources.
