Business Trainee

Aalborg Portland A/S

In August 2006 I was employed as Business Trainee in a two-year trainee program in different functions and divisions. In the first period I referred to the Head of Management Office, while I in the second period referred to the Head of Sales & Marketing at Aalborg Portland White A/S.

The main tasks and results are outlined below:

First period:

  • Management reporting
  • Project manager for setting up a global market intelligence-system with the purpose to gather existing competitor- and market information in one single database with direct integration to Google Earth for visual overview
  • Responsible for developing and updating factbooks on strategic key markets

Second period:

  • M&A project in China including;
    • Market analysis (sales forecasting, marketing campaign, sales channel- and distribution analysis)
    • Feasibility studies on green field opportunities
    • P&L calculations, sensibility analysis
  • Responsible for sales reporting

Management Assistant

Aalborg Portland White A/S

In February 2008 I was appointed as Management Assistant in a newly established staff function with direct reference to the CEO at Aalborg Portland White A/S. The main focus was ongoing development and implementation of management tools to secure alignment among the subsidiaries, which was a key element of fulfilling the new strategy of becoming global market leader within white cement. In connection with the implementation I visited the subsidiaries in Malaysia, China and Egypt on a regular basis.

The main tasks and results are outlined below:

  • Assisting in the development of new business unit strategy on a global, regional and local level
  • Responsible for development, implementing and follow-up on new management tools including;
    • Market attractiveness model
    • Market plans for selected key markets
    • Performance management system to benchmark markets and subsidiaries using KPI-dashboards
  • Assisting in business development projects covering both green field and M&A activities
  • Responsible for setting up a model to compare prices taking inco-terms into account
  • Executing ad-hoc analysis and presentations for the CEO

In October 2010 I was appointed as Business Consultant with reference to the Head of Executive Support. As the diverse range of information to the management increased dramatically a new staff function to the board of directors was established. My overall goal and responsibility is to be a value added partner to the management ensuring high quality standards and consistency in the information flow which forms the basis for the decision-making of the board of directors.

The main tasks and results are outlined below:

  • Responsible for presentations, analysis and management information for CEO and board meetings
  • Responsible for comprehensive business cases including wind power cases in Sweden and Germany (business description, market analysis, P&L calculations, cash flow statements, sensibility analysis, risk assessment, etc.)
  • Responsible for developing a "best practice" business case template
  • Preparation of a wind power factbook on selected key markets (overview of capacities, support schemes etc.)
  • Member of the task force working with the due diligence including;
    • Composing parts of the "strategic business plan"
    • Contributor to parts of the information memorandum
  • Responsible for business excellence through optimization of internal business processes using a lean approach
  • Assisting in the development of a dashboard-concept to KPI reporting in various divisions

In April 2009 I was employed in a new established function as Business Developer with reference to the SVP. As a Business Developer with an analytic approach my primary responsibility was to ensure an objective evaluation and facilitate the prioritisation of a diverse range of business opportunities. Another main focus was to contribute in establishing a firm platform for the expected growth strategy.

The main tasks and results are outlined below:

  • Business project manager for the implementation of a CRM-system (MS Dynamics CRM) in the B2B-division
  • Responsible for business cases in pipeline (business description, market analysis, P&L calculations)
  • M&A project on a competitor including;
    • Feasibility study
    • Assisting in the financial due diligence process

  • Project manager for the integration of the acquired company

I did my Master's Thesis in cooperation with Danske Bank A/S in a 6 month period. The Master's Thesis sets up a new analysis model for measuring and predicting customer loyalty including a M-ROI approach.

Summary

Directly after graduating in August 2006 as M.Sc. in Economics & Business Administration I started my career at Aalborg Portland A/S in a two-year trainee program as Business Trainee. I covered a variety of tasks including the project management of setting up a global market intelligence-system and participation in a massive M&A project in China. Six months before ending the trainee program I was appointed as Management Assistant. The main focus was ongoing development and implementation of management tools and various business development projects in key markets. At Aalborg Portland A/S I have gained a thorough knowledge of the complex nature in a production company.

In order to develop and expand my professional experience and skills I was employed by Nordjysk Elhandel A/S in April 2009 in a newly established position as Business Developer. My main tasks were preparation of business cases on new business opportunities, acquisition of a competing company and project management of the following integration in Nordjysk Elhandel A/S. In October 2010 I was appointed as Business Consultant in a newly established staff function to the board of directors. My key focus was to ensure high quality standards and consistency in the management information. Throughout the employment at Nordjysk Elhandel A/S I have been a member of the task force preparing due diligence material for a sales process which was concluded in April 2011. The positions at Nordjysk Elhandel A/S have produced a comprehensive understanding of the complex energy market.

In order to expand my professional experience and skills within the energy business I start at Siemens Wind Power in September 2011 in a newly established position as Business Developer with direct reference to the CEO.

During my education and professional career I have gained insight in different organizational setups and structures in both production- and trading companies. The positions held have required interaction and cooperation with many different people with a variety of positions and cultural backgrounds.Continuouscompetency development is a high priority which has resulted in certifications in project- and lean management as well as working as Teaching Assistant at Aalborg University.
