About Ron Heinz

As founder and managing director of Signal Peak Ventures in Salt Lake City, Ron Heinz leads a venture capital and private equity firm that invests in IT companies with the possibility of creating long-term market value. Ron Heinz manages capital totaling in excess of $500 million and spanning sectors such as mobile computing, communications, SaaS, and enterprise software. Drawing on more than 30 years of relevant experience, he engages directly with invested companies in spearheading commercialization efforts.

Mr. Heinz completed undergraduate studies in finance at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Following a graduate degree at American University in business administration, he completed studies in public policy at Harvard University. As CEO of Phobos Corp. from 2000 to 2003, he led a security hardware and software company that was ultimately acquired by SonicWall for more than $250 million. Mr. Heinz subsequently directed the Utah satellite technology firm Helius Corp. (acquired by Hughes Network Systems) as CEO. Prior to taking his current position, Ron Heinz was managing director with the technology investment firm Canopy Ventures.
