  • Managed up to 2 designers, 1 engineer and 1 trainee engineer
  • Carried out vehicle packaging, worked with design studio to create new interior styling, maximized spatial efficiency, layout adding 5 more seats while giving 0.5” more legroom
  • Achieved 14% cost reduction for passenger seats, 9% cost reduction for interior finish and 2% weight reduction overall, while creating word-class interior experience for passengers
  • Full ownership for design, development, integration and testing of the following systems:
  • Composite structural floor with integrated heating pad and floor covering
  • Seat tracks, cantilever mounted passenger seats, ADA and CSA wheelchair restraint and passenger assists (stainless steel stanchions, wireless next stop buttons)
  • Interior finish (A pillar, side walls, modesty panels, window moldings, hard trims, wheel house covers)

*R179 NYCT contract, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), valued at US$599MM:

  • Led schedule of finishes to define all visible surfaces inside, outside the train and cab area
  • Defined the process which became a Bombardier’s standard

*Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) contract, valued at US$1.5B, acted as project engineer:

  • Challenged strategic passenger seat suppliers to provide technical recommendation before contract award
  • Worked with seat supplier, and industrial designers to develop existing seat to meet BART’s specification (APTA, modularity, comfort and aesthetic) and integrated them within the train
  • Liaised with seat supplier and prototype center to build soft and hard mock up, part of an extensive passenger outreach
  • Managed industrial designers to define all finishes inside, outside the train and cab area
  • Supported prototype center to build a full scale mock up of two-thirds of a train for public review

*BiLevel train contract, GoTransit, valued at CAD$200MM:

  • Acted as project engineer and challenged strategic passenger seat suppliers before contract award. Managed supplier to guarantee delivery within schedule and budget
  • Carried out successful business case, Make Vs Buy. Convinced GoTransit to adopt selected seats
  • Integrated floor heaters, stanchions, plywood floor and finished floor with Catia V5
