  • Responsibility for Total Systems Design and architecture of the Backup and Disaster Recovery landscape, this includes full management of all TSM systems running on AIX 5.3 and 6.1.
  • Plan, co-ordinate and effect all upgrades as necessary. TSM (5.5, 6.1 & 6.2.3), TDP and BA Clients as well as AIX 5.3 and 6.1 server.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing data protection and backup strategies for newly acquired bank’s legacy data.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on all backup, data protection and data recovery endeavors. This includes all future expansions, hardware and software changes and refresh.
  • Support all Audit related endeavors, including but not limited to provided all required information as necessary.
  • As part of a larger storage team, perform the daily backup validation, node addition and removal, system performance tuning, storage addition, in a Netapp, HDS, Protectier and XIV space.
  • Planned and successfully implemented the Bank’s last FDIC Disaster Recovery Test (March, 2012).
  • Planned and effect the banks Enterprise Email System – Exchange Data Protection move from Data Protection Manager (DPM) to TSM.
  • Re-design and re-architect the Enterprise wide backup landscape to incorporate a new Datacenter for DR, colocation, and redundancy.
  • Full responsibility for all daily support of our data protection space, this includes problem remediation, systems support, maintenance, performance tuning and upgrades as necessary. 
  • Planned and effect all our mandatory Disaster Recovery exercises.

Full responsibility for the entire Backup and DR landscape. This includes six (6) TSM servers versions 5.5.3 to version 6.2.4 running on AIX and Linux, backing up more than 3000 nodes. With full responsibility for the following:

  • All TSM server design configuration, this includes designing all connectivity to SAN for disk and storage pools, and switches for drive connectivity. 
  • All TSM server installations, including OS, TSM software installation and configuration.
  • Install, configure and manage DB2 databases in support of TSM 6.x 
  • Install, manage and configure Sybase backup servers, to facilitate TSM backup of ASE.
  • Deliver 24x7 on-call support for all high priority issues world-wide, this includes supporting additional TSM servers in Germany and China.
  • Troubleshoot all client side backup issues on Windows, Linux AIX and HP-UX.
  • Trouble shoot all Application related backup issues, to include but not limited to SAP and SAP brtools.
  • Troubleshoot all Database backup issues on Oracle, and DB2 and across various backup tools such as RMAN and SAP/BR tools.
  • Manage and maintain the TSM Lanfree environment, including but not limited to all installations, configurations and daily management.
  • Part of a dedicated team of Unix/linux administrators responsible for the enterprise wide Linux, HP-UX and AIX support, this included:
    • Installations of all Unix systems on both physical and virtual platforms across AIX, HP-UX and Linux.
    • Configuration, management and overall support of all daily systems management, across 2000+ VMware systems and 1200 physical systems.

Manage a team based in the US and France, that is responsible for the following:Developed and implemented standardized procedures to help track Operation’s inventory, after a four-company merger. This included all hardware, software, maintenance and support contracts, resulting in a six million dollar cost savings plus an additional four million dollar cost avoidance.

  • Developed a company-wide strategy for a worldwide storage consolidation, involving various SAN (Storage Area Network) solutions from different vendors, such as EMC, HDS, SUN, HP and MTI. As well as various Operating Systems running different applications. This enabled the company to transparently transitioned its infrastructure-based applications from four separate companies into one worldwide Operation unit.
  • Part of a team of Unix System administrators supporting the company wide distributed environment. With over all responsibility for all day to day operations, regarding system integrity, and continued operations of designated servers, including many variations of Sun Enterprise systems such as E250, E450, E3500, E5500 etc and HPUX. I also provided backend support for business critical applications,
  • System performance tuning, system maintenance on HP-UX and SUN Solaris. File system development and maintenance using LVM, and Veritas Volume Manager. Disaster recovery, business impact planning and implementation.  I also wrote custom scripts to automate and implement database backups. Manage and implement database security by implementing password and resource management procedures. This includes managing privileges, and roles.
  • All Legato Networker server installations, including OS,  software installation and configuration to support our backup infrastructure.
