Paragon Construction Consulting

Paragon Construction Consulting was the construction manager for the Hu Honua Bioenergy Power Plant construction in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. Paragon is a consulting firm that specializes in rescuing troubled construction projects. I was hired from Hawaiian Dredging and eventually put in charge of the site.

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company

Hawaiian Dredging was the general contractor for the construction of the Hu Honua Bioenergy Power Plant in Pepeekeo, Hawaii. The power plant is located on a former sugar plantation and was being refurbished to burn eucalyptus chips to produce clean, renewable power. This job led to my position with Paragon Construction Consulting.

  • Coordinated shipment,delivery, and installation of power plant  equipment.
  • Negotiated agreements for leasing property for lay down and assembly of boiler and power distribution equipment
  • Audited estimator's proposal for accuracy
  • Managed Submittals and Requests-For-Information (RFI's).
  • Documented delivery, installations, and construction progress
  • Created weekly and monthly executive reports for management and project owners

After being laid off at Buchanan Automation I returned to running fishing boats in Alaska. I have successfully operated fishing vessels in Bristol Bay and throughout Alaska for many seasons. Commercial fishing in Alaska has always given me great joy.

After leaving Weaver Technologies, I was hired by Buchanan to sell automation equipment. The economy was hit hard in Oregon during the recession of 2008. I was laid off due to financial troubles in the company. I had a blast learning about robotics and automation.

Working a Weaver Technologies honed my technical sales skills. I had to go toe-to-toe against much larger sales companies in a fiercely competitive market. I was wildly successful!

  • Designed, built, and commissioned class 10 to class 100,000 clean rooms as well as biotech cleanrooms for medical device manufacturing

  • Designed and built a UL listed component for HP's ink jet manufacturing line. My first order was for $323,000. We sold over a million dollars worth at 60% gross profit

    I was hired out of college by Siemens as a part of a sales internship program. I was not offered the sales job I was recruited for and subsequently accepted an offer from Weaver Technologies.

    To support myself through college, I commercial fished in Alaska. I started out as a deckhand and worked my way up to captain. I fished for crab in the Bering sea and Kodiak, Seined salmon and herring, long lined halibut and black cod, and gill netted in Bristol Bay. I learned many valuable lessons from commercial fishing that have contributed to who I am today.

    When I graduated from high school,  I had no money to go to college. I joined the Army Reserve as a way to pay for college. Along the way I attended several leadership academies and was quickly promoted to platoon sergeant. It was a great adventure and I enjoyed every minute of it.
