Mercatus Consulting - Brazil

I use Mercatus for my private consulting projects. With Mercatus I was able to consult for several companies worldwide. Starting in 2006, I worked with Music Intelligence Solutions (Barcelona, Spain) helping them organize and build a business development plan and product roadmap for their music recognition software. At Genius Institute in Sao Paulo, I organized the sales structure and developed a business plan for speech recognition software (product roadmap, marketing and sales) and at Nanox Technology I worked together with the partners in business develoment and complex project negotiations as well as in planning new product launches and sales forecasting. Before joining MIXTV, I participated in the restructuring of the HSBC Investments "Home Broker" Portal in Brasil helping to put the project in pace, creating an organized roadmap until its launch.

BSL Logistics Group

BSL is a leading logistics company in e-commerce in the Brazilian market. Operating for clients such as Grupo B2W (Americanas, Submarino and Shoptime) (Ponto Frio, Casas Bahia and Extra) and Embratel, the company has a turnover of U.S. $ 20 million annually, more than 100 direct and indirect employees and presence throughout the country.


- Opening of the company's U.S. operation in Outubro/2010 in Miami, USA including business plan, legal issues and licensing, recruiting executives and contact potential customers and franchisees.

- Restructuring of the Brazilian operation to increase sales and presence in the domestic market in 2011.

- Development of the project for expansion of franchise operations in 35 Brazilian cities.

- Development of new P & L structure with variable compensation costs for employees and partners,  outsourced transportation and expanding the national reach.

- Consolidation of the partnership with Grupo B2W, conducting the negotiations directly with the top echelon of the company and becoming a key partner for the expansion and consolidation of the Brazilian market in 2011.

- Funding and negotiation with potential companies interested in M ​​& A and investment in BSL in Brazil and abroad.

Director of Innovation and IT

Grupo Mix de Comunicação - Rádio e TV

MIX TV is a broadcast television/radio group present nationwide in Brazil. It is composed of three TV Channels (SD/HD) and two radio stations. As Director of Innovation, my mission at the company was to understand the processes in use, propose and create a new technology system to integrate the old TV engineering to the new digital standards, budget, negotiate with suppliers, hire the technology integrators and coordinate the deployment of the project. By the end of 2010 I successfully delivered the three channels in the new tapeless system. This project posed as one of my biggest career challenges both in terms of learning about a very complex business as Television as well as with the difficulties to break the paradigm of TV engineering and transpose it to IT technology.

Labone Systems SA

Brought over US$ 5MM in total revenues for the company internationally consolidating it's position in the market. Started the international subsidiary of LabOne Systems in Milan, Italy to commercialize LabOne Digital Media Delivery Solutions in Europe. Established relationships and closed deals with companies such as: Telecom Italia, INET (British Telecom), Eutelia, Esperia (Softpeople Group), Kataweb, Euronics, Terra Networks, Telefonica de Espain and Telmex Group in Mexico. Back in Brazil in July 2006 to continue opening new markets for the company, I consolidated deals in Chile, Argentina, Mexico and United States.

Infinite Space Systems

Reported to the CEO and to the Board, and managed five direct reports; COO, CFO, Content Director, Technical Director and Marketing Manager. Developed the company’s business plan to work on fund rising for the company. Worked towards raising capital for the company with U.S and Hispanic venture capital funds like Latin American Enterprise Fund, GKM, Grupo Carso, Prisa Group and Darby Fund. Implemented the company’s business plan and signed numerous contracts with traditional and Internet media companies like Weather Channel, MGM, Association of Surfing Professionals, Canal13 Chile, Grupo Acir Mexico, Torneos y Competencias Argentina, BBC and Chilli Media in the U.K and Grupo Telefonica in Spain. At the end of 2003, Infinite Space systems acquired LabOne from Abril Group.

P&L and budget responsibility for regional sales of media systems, e-commerce, advertising, marketing and strategic alliances. Directly conduct business with the largest media and Internet companies in the region (Terra Networks, AOL, Globo, Abril, SBT, Televisa, TelMex, UOL, Ciudad Internet among others). Direct involvement in the development and implementation of RealNetworks’s RealOne consumer strategy for Latin America. Also managing business in Spain and Portugal with Telefonica Group and Portugal Telecom. Took the company's revenue in LATAM from US$ 200K/year to US$ 13MM at the end of 2000.

Company Highlights: � 1997 to 1998 - managed a team of 80 people implementing an US$8MM USD Internet project for PETROBRAS. � From 1996-1997 worked as Senior IT director/consultant for Clinica Sao Vicente Hospitals in Rio de Janeiro. Brought significant inovations to the company like an internet presence, connection and email systems. Supported the companie's certification in ISO9002 Standards and redesigned the Hospitals CRM system and data services. � 1996 - Developed and implemented a US$ 500K business plan for a private bank, in order to create one of the first Internet Service Providers in Brazil - EASYNET � 1992 - Developed and implemented the network infrastructure for the Global Forum, part of the ECO 92 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. � 1986/95 - worked as a senior account manager for customers like Citibank, British Tobacco, Fleischmann Royal, Petrobras, Shell Petroleum and Exxon Petroleum.

Since I started my own company in 1986, i have been leaning how to enchant and captivate customers. For 12 years I successfully conducted my company mainly conquering new accounts and keeping old customers for as long as I was leading the business. When I sold the company at the top of its game in 1998, I went to work for a multinational business and became one of the most successful salesperson of the business mostly taking it from US$ 200K/year to US$ 12MM when I left it at the first quarter of 2001 as General Manager for the Latin America, Spain and Portugal markets. I then continued my sales life opening new markets in Europe and Latin America always with new ideas and product innovation that brought new business in the digital arena to large groups like Telefonica and Carso (Telmex, Sanborns). 
TV Broadcast Tecnology
Since early 2008, I have been directly involved in the development and implementation of a Tapeless operation at MIX TV station In Brazil. I have had the opportunity to design, implement and manage a unique Media Asset Management and workflow system that involves 4 different companies: two brazilian (CADENA and LABONE), one italian (ETERE) and one american (OMNEON). The system's highlights are its low cost compared to packaged market solutions and its design to fit the needs of the company.   At my current job, I dedicated several hours in learning with Engineers at the company about the operation, management, production and broadcast functions on a TV station. As a fast learner, I consider that today I have enough experience to support the company on its growth as a converged business in a new media world where the TV is only one of the players together with Radio, Internet and Mobile.
Digital Media
I have started using digital media specific computer graphics in 1986. After having a company for 12 years and being a pioneer in Streaming Media in Brazil, I joyned RealNetworks in Seattle. I participated in several streaming media live webcasts either coordinating the project or hands on, like the Big Brother in Spain and England, The Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy and implemented the first digital music web experiences in Latin America for Sanborns (Grupo Carso) in Mexico, ElatinMusic ( in the U.S.  and VTR in Chile.
Foreign Languages
Foreign languages come to me as a natural talent. I have started studying English and French when I was 6. English and Spanish spoken and written. French spoken and written but not using for some time. Italian spoken (i can write to a level of understanding but not proficient). Native Protuguese.
