A financial services executive by profession, Robert Iola enjoys off-road motorcycle riding with the Bear Creek Sportsmen in his free time. Robert Iola also participates in many of the Sportsmen's annual events, such as the summer Quarry Run and the Bear Creek Blast. Each year, the Bear Creek Sportsmen sponsor a two-day event known as the Quarry Run Dual Sport. The event is open to the public, though the organization does recommend active American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) membership status for participants. Riders in the event have the opportunity to travel across approximately 200 miles, or 100 miles per day, of single-track trails as well as paved and dirt roads. The actual distance traveled is at the discretion of the individual rider, who must possess an active event registration to ride the trails. The organization supports its riders with a lunch and snack on the first day of the event, and a chicken barbecue reception by the Hancock Fire Department on the second day. Frequently, local children set up cookie and drink stands along the route, and the Sportsmen encourage riders to support these young entrepreneurs. Riders are responsible for overnight accommodations, though camping is often available for a nominal fee.
