community and volunteer

I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2010, am a member of the Order of Arrow, and participated in the Nendawan Leadership Training.  My Eagle project  was striping the .................... sq ft parking lot of Hazel Green United Methodist Church.  (link to pics) - cost of materials provided by church, two saturdays - 12 volunteers - rented equipment - layout for handicap and regular- est spaces.

When able I participant with the North Alabama Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America - link to car pics - I own and regularly drive a 1970 Chevy CST/10 pick-up truck.  I do all the maintenance on this vehicle, which so far has included a complete brake system rebuild, water pump replacement, carburetor and ignition work, air conditioning repair, installing a radio and other repairs.

I also own a 1964 Chevy Corvair 500 that is complete but in need of restoration.  This vehicle was orginally purchased new by my grandparents, and years after they sold it they were able to buy it back.  I've grown up around antique cars and want to continue the hobby of restoring and maintaining antique vehicles.

On campus I'm active with The Cru and play guitar in the band that leads worship in Tuesday evenings.  I also substitute on lead guitar in the band at my home church.  I played with that group regularly until I started college.

I have been on mission trips with my church group to the Dominican Republic, Eleuthera, Sand Mountain, and the Tuscaloosa area after the devastating tornadoes of April 2011.

Hobbies and interests

Scouting gave me a love for camping, hiking and backpacking, and I have hiked several portions of the Appalachian Trail.

I'm an amateur musician and have sung and played for weddings, wedding receptions and in church settings.  Own multiple guitars, a mandolin, an electric bass, a resonator guitar, and an embarrassing amount of guitar gear.

I'm an antique car enthusiast and grew up working with my father on his antique cars.  We've rebuilt a Chevy 327 V-8 and the four-speed gearbox of his 1963 Impala SS red convertible.  We've also worked on the V-12 engine of his 1931 Cadillac.

I enjoy wood working and, in addition to building a guitar, have made a lamp, several small, decorative boxes and a hand mirror with decorative abalone inlay.

My fiancee enjoys _____________ dancing, and I enjoy being with her, so I do my best to keep step.  I'm engaged to my high school sweetheart, and we plan to marry in July 2016.

about me

I am honest, hard working and believe in treating people with kindness and courtesy.

I take pride in my work and see myself as a life-long learner.  I eventually intend to pursue a engineering master's degree while working, particularly interested in............

I seek an entry-level electrical engineering position, and I am available for travel.
