Provide 24/7 physical DBA support for up to 17 customers. Customers' environments have varied greatly in size and covered a wide range of platforms. Types of customers include retail chains, online merchants, healthcare providers, pharmaceuticals, government agencies, and manufacturers, some with military/government contracts.

Some specifics of the type of support I provide include:

  • Perform various queries and operations at customer request; retrieving, sorting, and managing access to data
  • Provide "account focal" services including account-specific documentation and customer communication
  • Create and maintain documentation for repeatable processes
  • Create and manage database objects (including schemas, tablespaces, profiles, etc.) 
  • Manage and monitor state of databases
  • Manage and monitor capacity on database servers and within databases
  • Manage and monitor backup strategies for databases (generally RMAN and TDP)
  • Manage security settings re-evaluated on a quarterly basis
  • Apply quarterly Oracle security patches
  • Install Oracle software (including RAC/ASM)
  • Create and drop databases as requested
  • Perform instance and database recovery using RMAN
  • Export and import data using Data Pump
  • Install and perform base configuration of Golden Gate
  • Create and maintain Data Guard instances
  • Led several large-scale migration projects
  • Led several disaster recovery exercises
